Hahahahaha!!! I'm not sure about the QB transfer, but I don't think there's anything mythical about the gift.coloradocat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:45 amWhich will happen first: the mythical game changing gift or the mythical QB transfer?

Re: MSU to receive Game Changing Big Gift?
If it’s less than $600 million, I don’t want it….
For real though, when would something be announced? This seems to be a poorly kept secret on there being something coming, but a really well kept secret on what that something is.
Clearly some here are in the know, and they’re not going to say anything outright, and I get that.
But if it’s such a big gift and could help lure more top end recruits with its magnitude, then what’s the hold up?
Maybe Cruzado going out with a bang and making a huge announcement on her way out?

Re: MSU to receive Game Changing Big Gift?
I doubt they're intentionally holding anything back. I'm certainly not one of the "in the know" people, but if there is a major donation coming I'm sure it takes time to work out all the details and they'll also want to announce it along with detailed plans for what they plan to do with the money.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 11:32 amIf it’s less than $600 million, I don’t want it….

Re: MSU to receive Game Changing Big Gift?
I would guess these things need time to be negotiated. For example, let's say it really is $250 million....is it $25m/year over 10 years? Is it $50m/year over 5? Is it subject to the giver's passing away? Are there other conditions (naming a building, work being awarded to the giver's company, etc.) What are the giver's tax implications? etc.
If this report is true, it's probably a handshake agreement with the details being hammered out.

When something takes a lot longer than you think it should ... almost always blame the attorneys.
If there is a big gift coming, it's no doubt very complex legally and nobody will want to announce anything until everything is perfected.

I hope the QB transfer does not happen. I would much rather see us develop our QBs, unless a unique opportunity (like Chambers) falls into our laps.coloradocat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2025 10:45 amWhich will happen first: the mythical game changing gift or the mythical QB transfer?

It would be a very good sign if MSU doesn’t pick up a quarterback.imacat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 2:40 pmI hope the QB transfer does not happen. MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Yes, considering the staff’s ability to evaluate and develop talent not picking up a quarterback would only mean that at least two of the quarterbacks currently on the roster are doing exceedingly well.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 2:46 pmIt would be a very good sign if MSU doesn’t pick up a quarterback.imacat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 2:40 pmI hope the QB transfer does not happen. Hope it's a NIL sugar daddy/mama! That's more necessary than facility upgrades right now imo!

Read the end of this article. A big donation and more roster room could be a big deal.

Would be a huge deal for MSU. The more quality players it can get on campus to train and develop the better. I don't think it's necessarily a big deal for most BSC teams, or many FCS teams.RyeCat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 1:57 pmhttps://herosports.com/fcs-2025-offseas ... ball-bzbz/

Re: MSU to receive Game Changing Big Gift?
I wouldn’t expect to hear anything for awhile. If the dollar amount that I’m hearing is correct and the initiation date of the concept is correct, then I would be surprised if anything becomes official by the end of the summer. Projects this big have a lot of factors. If the economy crashes, forget it. The stock market has been doing good for the last five(?) years and the economy has been doing better the last three years or so. But if that goes south then it will hurt the chances. Private parties rarely do projects like this to spark the economy. Some take jobs to keep their own employees from being let go. Hard to say what the next few months will look like.

I think Waded retires July 1st. In my mind I had that as a target date.iaafan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 11:28 amI wouldn’t expect to hear anything for awhile. Unless this was initiated a much longer time ago than I had thought, I don't think her retirement date has a lot to do with it. The people supposedly dropping the money on this probably don't give too hoots about that. I'm not saying you're dead wrong, just that I think her retirement isn't a likely target date. Maybe it is, but I just don't think the people involved are too focused on that. I think it will probably happen and be announced in six months or so unless there's a big market/economy downfall and these people get nervous.wbtfg wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 12:19 pmI think Waded retires July 1st. Oh for sure. I was just thinking from her perspective. It would obviously be quite a parting gift for her to announce this before she steps out the door.iaafan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 12:45 pmUnless this was initiated a much longer time ago than I had thought, I don't think her retirement date has a lot to do with it. Re: MSU to receive Game Changing Big Gift?
So, what are the odds that this is just some sort of self perpetuating story? Someone hears a rumor about a big gift and the rumor spreads and it gets posted on BN. Someone else reads the BN post, talks about it to other folks and that rumor spreads and someone posts on BN; "I heard about a big gift too."
The story morphs, the numbers get inflated, etc.
Has anyone actually heard anything about this gift from a legitimate and reliable source in the athletic department/university leadership and not some sort of vague comment from a pod cast, ex-coach, or friend of a friend?

I heard about it from PlayerRep on egriz, I'm not sure there's a more solid source than that.
