For real though, when would something be announced? This seems to be a poorly kept secret on there being something coming, but a really well kept secret on what that something is.

Clearly some here are in the know, and they’re not going to say anything outright, and I get that.

I doubt they're intentionally holding anything back. I'm certainly not one of the "in the know" people, but if there is a major donation coming I'm sure it takes time to work out all the details and they'll also want to announce it along with detailed plans for what they plan to do with the money.

I would guess these things need time to be negotiated. For example, let's say it really is $250 million....is it $25m/year over 10 years? Is it $50m/year over 5? Is it subject to the giver's passing away? Are there other conditions (naming a building, work being awarded to the giver's company, etc.) What are the giver's tax implications? etc.
If this report is true, it's probably a handshake agreement with the details being hammered out.

When something takes a lot longer than you think it should ... almost always blame the attorneys.

If there is a big gift coming, it's no doubt very complex legally and nobody will want to announce anything until everything is perfected.

Yes, considering the staff’s ability to evaluate and develop talent not picking up a quarterback would only mean that at least two of the quarterbacks currently on the roster are doing exceedingly well.

Would be a huge deal for MSU. The more quality players it can get on campus to train and develop the better. I don't think it's necessarily a big deal for most BSC teams, or many FCS teams.

If the dollar amount that I’m hearing is correct and the initiation date of the concept is correct, then I would be surprised if anything becomes official by the end of the summer. Projects this big have a lot of factors. If the economy crashes, forget it. The stock market has been doing good for the last five(?) years and the economy has been doing better the last three years or so. But if that goes south then it will hurt the chances. Private parties rarely do projects like this to spark the economy. Some take jobs to keep their own employees from being let go. Hard to say what the next few months will look like.

Unless this was initiated a much longer time ago than I had thought, I don't think her retirement date has a lot to do with it. The people supposedly dropping the money on this probably don't give too hoots about that. I'm not saying you're dead wrong, just that I think her retirement isn't a likely target date. Maybe it is, but I just don't think the people involved are too focused on that. I think it will probably happen and be announced in six months or so unless there's a big market/economy downfall and these people get nervous.
