Pretty shocking that they didn't try to win the game on a Taco punt return. Wasn't that by far their best chance? Hmm.
They would have punted it out of bounds.
Then we'd still at least have a hail Mary. But no, Vigen chose to give up. I wonder why.
Thought a blocked punt was his best option. Blaming him for a decision you disagree with in a miracle situation is dumb.

Pending the portal, this team is still pretty loaded. Biggest question is QB. Defense looks to be set. Just need to find out who can or will be the QB. O-line should be very good even if Moore leaves. RB room is still deep if Humphrie leaves. TE group looks good. Need to find a couple of WR's to step up and play opposite Taco. I was disappointed in what I saw out of Alexander this year. Tommy never seemed to have much confidence in him. He needs to really step up next year.

It was a coaching decision to not put Taco back on that last punt, and it’s on Vigen…as was the call to for it on 4th down at the end of the second quarter. He has some soul searching to do, BUT, this game was not lost on those 2 plays. We left points and plays on the field and the Defensive staff adjusted well but were found vulnerable with that open middle that cost us the 7 points we needed.
Seems pretty ironic that Vigen, who normally plays it safe and conservative whenever he can, made that super risky call in the second quarter. We don't know if the game would've ended differently had they punted there but that was an absolutely massive swing. MSU was also about a yard away from a pick six on the first play of that drive for NDSU when the ball tipped off Brown's hands into the air.

They went for the win to try and get a block and recovery for a game winning TD. That or a fair catch and a hail mary which would have been a long throw for Tommy. I see it as 50/50 and it did not work. That 1st quarter hurt them more than the decision at the end.

Off to next year I guess. No prize for second place. Curious who will step up at qb next year and what the offense will look like.

You still put a guy back there to fair catch it.

I’d still rather be me than some of the sorry people who posted on this thread.
They saved me a crow. Thank you though, for your enthusiasm, and positivity. It was needed and changed my attitude.
Time to solve the puzzle and become the Bison Slayers. Despite no Tommy, the Cats will be here again next year, mark it.
It’s not fun but I’d rather support this amazing university and our boys then the gay ass griz or even these bison. I’m proud of how far we’ve come. I’m so used to misery that it’s like, here we go again. I hurt for Tommy and the team. Thank you boys for the high expectations and the sad ending. The griz are happy being losers weeks ago.
I don't even feel sad right now, just proud to have experienced the best season of Bobcat football I'm old enough to remember.
Thank you MSU01. I have tears in my eyes but appreciate fans who ride or die with our Cats!

Which would've stopped the clock
Yeah, OK. Vigen thought his best chance was a punt block. Hard to be upset over a miracle situation, but this is the internet and you’re all amazing coaches.

The Stanford QB transfer Vigen is following on social media still hasn't committed anywhere yet. Seems like he could be a decent possibility and is a dual threat type of player that fits the offense MSU likes to run. Nobody will replace Tommy but I'd feel pretty confident with him and Chance competing for the job.

Hats off to our team for not giving up and making a great comeback. I hate it that that’s how it ended for those seniors. I also hate it that this is the second year in a row that I’ve felt the Cats have been the better team, but ended up handing it to them with some uncharacteristic play.

When you have the best player in the country you can’t spend the entire first half playing so conservative. Obviously we thought we could just run it down there throats with power offense. Not sure why. Our advantage was on the edge with Tommy making decisions. Also defense can not completely vacate the middle of the field on a 3rd and 3. You could see that draw coming a mile away. Not even sure that was the play but when Miller saw us playing DT outside their tackles and our linebackers outside the hash it was and easy pickup. Then our safeties fly outside as well. What the hell

Yeah hard to argue. When we are praying for miracles it’s hard to second guess. I’ve given you some ****** over the years Papa but appreciate your love of the Cats.
Coming this close hurts.

I also think that River has a great possibility of being a star. We will see, I have no evidence, just a gut feeling, maybe just gas.

Absolutely did not give up. Took a risk and used the extra man on the line to try to get a block, which immediately puts the Cats in field goal range.

At the end of the day… I will forever miss watching Tommy play football. What a joy to watch these past four years.

Praying for miracles at that point. Not sure why we kicked the perfect onside just watch it. Ounce you get to that point it doesn’t really matter much. The worst decision was going for it on 4th and 5 before the half. Cost 7 we couldn’t afford.
