So, you’re saying that WASHINGTON Grizzly Stadium was a mistake for UM? I have little problem with naming rights depending on the amount given. Wasn’t the old scoreboard bearing the name of Thayer Family? Come on guys, this is normal…heck you have NAMES ALL OVER the stadium. I went and watched games at Reno H Sales Stadium and now it’s Bobcat Stadium…which it likely will always be called even if it carries a labeling name from a donor or donors. This is a non issue in my mind!

they actually dropped it after idaho but have not enforced it.St George wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 1:38 pmCorrect me if I am wrong, but they didn't drop the attendance requirement when Idaho pretended to be FBS.

I also am fairly confident our program already has ties with YC. The team went to the YC in early August and I believe they had done this in the past. There have also been former players that make trips there. I understand taking their $ is a little different, but if you have a problem with the YC we already have connections with them.

This thread is akin to the "who will be our coach now that Vigen has taken the wazzu job" thread.
We need a "teenage girl gossip" section so these can be removed from Bobcat Football.
Just my opinion, of course.

The fact that people care enough to give to MSU, and potentially in a big way, speaks volumes about the strength and trajectory of the university and athletic department. Gifts like this don't just show up.
We’re witnessing an incredible era for MSU football and it’s something we should celebrate.

Was just at YC this week talking to a billionaire for professional reasons (because that is the sort of person who is a member at the YC)-- It is a different world to be sure than the rest of us live in, but that is reality. I know a few members there who are totally solid people-- they just have the kind of money that makes things possible that the rest of us could not dream of.
YC does have a community fund, but there is no way that institutionally they would be giving the kind of money. If there's any truth to the rumor at all, it is going to be $ from a member's individual funds.
I think this is great if it happens. I would love to see the YC folks and other wealthy landowners here investing more in the local community and the university and developing closer ties here, rather than just viewing MT as a playground. And if the $ amount is really significant enough to finance a substantial upgrade, I'd have no problem with re-naming the stadium. Virtually every significant program does this.
In fact, I'd always assumed that they had been keeping the Bobcat Stadium name precisely because they were waiting for that whale of a donor to come by.

1. Literally no one on here has any shred of evidence or a damn clue about this (aside from potentially Colter). There is no reason tog et all spun up about something that is completely uncorroborated.
2. If someone or some organization wants to give a ton of money to the program (outside of ISIS, the cartels or Hamas), there isn't a damn thing that any of us can do to stop them.
The wealthy are concerned about legacy and impact. We poors are concerned about dumb stuff like this.

You want to destroy interest in MSU football? Go ahead and move to FBS where your main goal is to win six games and go play in some meaningless bowl game that is half empty.

Nice job, now you just unleashed an additional 50 page thread on moving up versus not moving up. I agree with you though, but don't tell anyone.

Maybe Taylor Sheridan thinks the fact that we include a 10 second clip from Yellowstone in the opening video means we like his show and is going to donate money to name the stadium 6666 Stadium.

...To get this thread back on track - I don't like the idea of taking money from people looking to donate to MSU. To be completely honest, I've had it with the likes of the engineering program, business program and nursing program accepting funds from people I haven't personally vetted and definitely haven't purchased me a cup o' bourbon.
This $28 million dollar gift that is completely unsubstantiated, potentially made up and from a fully uncredible source is disgusting to me. Especially knowing Mr. Brady of the Yellowstone Club just bought into the Raiders. I'm here to say enough is enough, I'll probably just start rooting for Northern and their quaint and visually unappealing stadium in the Paris of the plains.
I love the Bobcats and the Miami Hurricanes an unhealthy level
