The Cats one the last heads up meeting. It's that simple. In fact, they won the last two.

It's widely accepted you retain a title until you're defeated. Evidently, it's widely accepted everywhere except in Missoula.

You can go on ad nauseam about playoffs, about national rankings, blahblahblah (which you most certainly will, because it's what all you jackasses do). I can't argue with any of that. It's all true. However, Uncle Denny can't buy off the Cats when it comes game time.

The Cats are the best team in the state and have proved it on the field.

To steal a line from GW, if you still don't understand then maybe I can draw a picture for you.

How exactly does he do that?

You hold on to beating the Griz 3 of the last 4, we'll hold on to being in the playoffs year in, year out, and playing in the National championship game 5 times since 1995.

Like I said you would, and you did, you can go on ad nauseam about all the playoff games and national rankings, etc.

The Cats are still the best team in the state until they lose. Furthermore, the Cats have one record the Fizz will never beat.

The Cats won the national championship first. And twice, for that matter.

So, by your rationale, the Royals beat the Tigers a few times this year. So the Royals are the best team in the American League.

You mentioned drawing a picture. You might want to for your own good. But draw it large, because it's all about the BIG picture. The Griz understand that.

Is that really supposed to be an argument? Apples and oranges man. If you guys could lose as good as you win, well, maybe I'd actually know a griz fan who is as classy as they claim to be.

Please explain to me why it's not a valid argument. Because it's a different sport? If so, I've got plenty of college football examples to give you. Either way, you'd be hard-pressed to convince me (or more importantly the selection committee) that if the cats should find a way to beat the Griz this year, that they're the better team. Better on that one day, perhaps. But better? Uh uh.

In fact, let's bottom line this: Eastern beat MSU. Is Eastern better than MSU this season?

IF the Cats win out and griz beat isu/unc, then the their records would be both 7-1 in the BSC (yes - Cats 8-3, griz 9-2 or 8-3). who is better then?

yup griz are ranked 1 in the polls, but don't think the answer to the question can be made until around 4:00 pm, nov. 18th - still lots o football left. remember?

Toddler, we agree. However, that wasn't the point Cledus was making. Unless I've misunderstood him, he's arguing the cats are the better team NOW due to their victory last season over the Griz. To me, that's nonsensical.

ok - nevermind then. i hope the griz continue to think they are the best team in the state - i like the role of underdog (worked last year).

First of all, the Cats only "one" the last "won," (sic), not the last two. I can understand why you might want to forget the 2004 game, but it happened, nonetheless.

Secondly, we all understand the lame semantic argument that you're making, but it's, well, a lame semantic argument. Texas won the I-A national title last year; are you going to argue that, right now, they're the best I-A team in the country, and will remain so until someone else wins the title? Yeah, we get the argument, but for those of us who are talking about this season, it's pretty worthless.

Don't need to impress you. Were are 5-O in the Big Sky with only one road game left in conference. Cats have to win out to have a chance at the playoffs. The griz only loss is to a ranked 1-A school. I don't care if your impressed or not, because your opinion doesn't matter.
You seem to be the only one posting here that is bragging about your big win. All my griz friends and coworkers are a little more humble than you. Granted, they realize a win is a win, however, they're a little more realistic that the game was close and they admit they very easily could've lost. Same thing with the Cats.... ISU almost pulled it off in the 4th quarter.... In my opinion, ISU is a VERY good team who has a VERY good chance of knocking off the griz.

VERY good team is a little strong. Capable offensively, but the D isn't great. They have a shot in Missoula in a shoot-out, but I'm not holding my breath.

The game was never in question last week after the middle of the 3rd quarter.

I agree. The KO return made it mildly interesting, but I don't know too many Griz fans who were stressed about the outcome after the middle of the 3rd. That said, Weber played very tough, and if they play that way against the cats, it will be another good game.
