Attention Athletic Department "Fly Over Please"

Post by BobcatBulldog » Thu Oct 19, 2006 9:07 am

I will ask for this every week till I get a ride to the stadium in one

I continually hear that MSU wants to improve the atmosphere at the games, well here ya go Fly Over Baby. Someone in the BN has to know someone up at the University that can get this done. I want this every game, infact I will come to the stadium every Saturday game or no game if they have a fly over.

We have had two flyovers scheduled so far this season and both have fallen through--one due to smoke, other due to weather. There is one scheduled for the Weber game--weather and FAA permitting.

I got chills!!! I've been waiting for the fly over also. There's no better way to start a game than to hear and feel the roar of a couple of fighters flying overhead.

Is Ken Switzer still one of the pilots for the flyover? It may depend on whether or not he has time or is on duty with the air guard.

I know someone with a cessna that could fly over, it would be slow but a Fly-over none the less

the Griz had helicopters fly over for their homecoming....just not the same as jet fighters. Maybe we could get some skydivers too!

Fighter jets are darn cool, no doubt about that. But I really enjoyed seeing the Apache and the Black Hawk as a change of pace.

All you need to do is head up for the GRIZ/cat game. We have a flyover scheduled.

The GRIZ, a quarter century of total football dominance over the cats.

For the A's playoff game I was at, they announced that there would be a flyover of a [garbled sound over PA]. So everybody got excited. Then, as the national anthem finished and the fireworks went off ... a military cargo plane flew over the stadium.

And then everybody said "What?" And we all tried to figure out if that was cooler or less cool than seeing each of the 50 or so commerical jets take off from the nearby airport during the course of the game.

Fighter jets are much cooler ... but we would have killed for even a helicopter at that point.

Fighter jets are by far the best way to start a game and I hope that they make it for the Weber game as sheduled. It gets everybody excited for the butt-whooping the Cats are about to hand out. Look forward to 2 in a row after this weekend's game at ISU.

You mean they're doing a flyover at ISU too?

Oh wait..... :)

Either way gives me chills! Before the Cat/Griz game in 2003 in Bozeman, they had helicoptors flying over didn't they?

I wonder what it costs to do flyovers and who foots the bill? I love them as much as the next guy but I always wondered about that.

They do training excercises regularly at the Air Guard in Great Falls so as long as they file the correct flight plan I think they just do their drills further south and then fly over the stadium and then head back home. You would think they would be able to couple that with their training etc. It would be interesting to know though if MSU has to pay anything for that though?

You would think with the Air Force ROTC being based at MSU, we would have more influence into the # of fly-overs we have per season.

I'm with you. Jets are there and gone so fast. The Black Hawks take their time a bit. They always look like they are going to blow right thru the smoke stack at Wash-Griz too...to add some extra excitement.

the guys that work for me that went to the griz homecoming game said that there were three guys sitting in the back ramp of the chinook that flew over with the blackhawks. that would have been cool

just fly over.

I remember being in Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix for the 2001 World Series. They had a flyover of a B-2. THAT was impressive! The roof was open, but the angle of the flyover meant you didn't know it was there until ity was overhead. Quiet! Seemed like it was flying right above the roof cause it was HUGE.

Get 'em Cats!
