No, it's from those commercials for the President of Beer... was it Miller that did those? Those were some funny commercials.

Mmmmmmm, beer. By the way, the $50 Cat/Griz student ticket prices are a joke. Make your money off of folks who actually have jobs, as opposed to those relegated to eating Ramen 4 nights a week.
On a somewhat related note, I just bought my tickets for App State / Furman (speaking of rivalry games). $20 each. Non-Student. And they'll sell around 25,000 of them. Quality sporting event or not, there's no reason to bleed students dry when they try to see their school play.

25000? according to both schools websites, both stadiums for these schools hold about 16,000 people. Don't get me wrong Im sure they will sell it out, but do they have a lawn people pay to sit in or something, or were you just embellishing? if they have a lawn or portable bleachers or something like that i apologize in advance.Cat in NC wrote:On a somewhat related note, I just bought my tickets for App State / Furman (speaking of rivalry games). $20 each. $50 is a stretch for any student, unless mommy and daddy are shelling it out (and if any parents of MSU students are reading this, PLEASE offer to pay for your kids to go!). I am not sure what MSU charged Griz students last year, but either way, students pay enough to the universities in terms of fees, tuition, and blasted parking. They should raffle off free tickets.
But I guess that kind of thinking is what makes me a liberal.

The strange part is that the face value on my ticket for the game is only $40. I don't know how they can get away with charging more for student tickets, it doesn't make a lot of sense.kmax wrote:I guess I tend to agree with BAC, it is pretty steep but then again what other sporting event in Montana ever draws this type of interest. Supply and demand.
Besides, instead of getting mad think of this as extra ammunition for the smack boards. Griz fans are always talking about how the Griz are such a big draw all the other teams in the Big Sky raise ticket prices when they come to town. Now we can say the Cats are such a big draw we even force the mighty Griz to raise ticket prices when we come to town!![]()
It is kind of funny that Cat fans have to pay more than Griz fans to see the Griz play.

No need to apologize as so many embellish here. Not in this case: look at the % of capacity numbers (is it I-AA.org who publishes those or AGS?). App State's somewhere around 130% of capacity due to a VERY large hill into which the stadium is built and a big standing-room area. I was there for the James Madison game this year and paid attendance was a little over 23,500. They did 24,300 against DII Mars Hill this year. Yesterday was their smallest crowd of the year, 18k and change. For the Western Carolina game 2 years ago, they did a shade over 25k. Look up any article on I-AA.org (or anygivensaturday.com's weekly attendance threads) and you'll find the info.geogfather wrote:25000? according to both schools websites, both stadiums for these schools hold about 16,000 people. $50 for student tickets is absolutely ridiculous. I couldn't have afforded that price in college when you throw in travel, hotel, meals, etc. etc.Bay Area Cat wrote:Not to defend UM or anything ... but $50 is quite reasonable for a top-flight sporting event. It is expensive, but much less so than many less-exciting and less-exclusive events. If you have a chance, pay the price (credit card debt can be paid off when you graduate ... I am the poster child for it) and enjoy a truly unqiue event.
But I definitely agree that MSU should be charging just as much for visiting student tickets for that game as well.
Our $35 student ticket seems excessive to me. Is the idea to price out the students of the other school? I can understand that argument, but no one can tell me that price and moreso the Griz price is in the best interest of the spirit of competition.
End of idealistic rant.

I don't care charge me a hundred dollars. I'll pay it, it's worth it to me, quit b**chin ladies. I'm more worried about standing in line for 3 hours to get Cat/Griz tickets for this years game, but that is usually pretty fun anyway.

This really doesn't surprise me coming from the griz.... there used to be a time when the majority of opposing team tickets were sold in the same section. If I remember correctly, the Bobcat fan tickets were a little more spread out around the stadium, rather than congregated in one spot. Undoubtedly an attempt by the griz to negate any mass cheering from the Bobcat faithful. I think this is nothing more than an attempt by um to force out the Bobcat fans and allow more of their fans into the games. If the face value truly is $40, then it seems um would be guilty of scalping their own tickets. Ridiculous. Just remember griz, two can play this game and I'm hoping next year the Bobcat athletic department plays by the same rules and charges exorbitant prices for griz fans and doesn't sell more than two tickets together anywhere in the stadium.
Does anyone know if there is a written agreement amongst the Big Sky or each school regarding the sales of opposing team tickets?

Do you mean this is the face value on the Cat/Griz ticket or did your season ticket not actually include every game in the season and you had to buy it seperately?grizband wrote:I have the least expensive season tickets UM offers, and my tickets to Cat/Griz were $50 a piece. Honestly, I don't think this is unreasonable, especially when I know kids who have scalped their's for twice that.

Thanks for clearing that up.LuvMaroon wrote:Once again, Cat students, if you don't like the price, don't buy a ticket!!! Trust me, there are way more than enough Griz fans who will fill the seats, which is much better anyway!
