Agreed, BAC. I don't think that was his intention. Likewise, I don't believe his intention was to slam the cats. He was making a point and supported it.Bay Area Cat wrote:I have a feeling that the intent was not to pay MSU a backhanded compliment. Just a hunch. If that was indeed the case, then this guy is one terrible writer, because that's certainly not how it reads.GrizinWashington wrote:First, please stop referring to it as an "article". It was not a news article; it was a column, and the columnist put his opinions into it. That's what they are paid to do.
Second, I agree with eggsalad. It was a backhanded compliment. The columnist was trying to support his argument that no one has facilities or an environment like Montana's and he used MSU's to say, "Not even MSU is even close". The reason he did that is because yours is 2nd best in the BSC, and that supported his argument better than saying, "UM's is better than Sac's". Hell, everyone knows that.

And now, agree to disagree?

I knew when I read this column that bobcatnation was going to be fired up. I myself was and I couldn't get to my computer until now. I don't like the fact that he made a stab at the Cats in what could have been a well written column. The fact is that right now the Griz do win the game day atmosphere with 23,000 fans. I will disagree with the eons away statement though. Bobcat Stadium is second best but after going to homecoming this year and seeing the crowd in poor weather and hearing the talk of finishing the horseshoe, adding boxes to the student side, and improving the entire atmosphere gets me excited for what the futture holds. I went to school there and worked in the ticket office through the turn of the century and we have made leaps and bounds in just a few years. The boosters are donating, fans across the state are supporting and our teams are beating the Griz year in and year out. Bozeman is growing like never before and the time is coming for some additions to the Stadium. All across the state you are starting to see more and more Bobcat gear. The Griz are starting to lose some of that dominance within the state. If I had 10 million to give I would so I urge our boosters to pick up the donations and increase our fan base by finishing the horse shoe. I believe the program would benefit ten-fold.

Dear BN,
The Column really isnt that big of a deal. Nobody is going to look at it for "posterboard" material or anything crazy like that, its just one man that decieded to talk about Wa-Griz stadium. I would disagree with the statement that the Cats arent eons away from the Griz, but only for the fact that of course the Grizzly gameday is 10X better with the the stadium/screen/fans ect. but please tell me when was the last time the Griz got BLOWN out 45-0 in Wa-Griz?
That is not smack, so please dont take it like it is....Im just trying to prove a point. We got throttled by EWU last year at home but the final score was only 34-20, and we got throttled by Cal Poly but the final score was only 21-34??? I forgot.
Point being, that Wa-Griz is a great place to play and whenever the Griz play there, you know that they are going to be in game and it really gives off that 12th man. I just dont see that in Bozeman...

It isn't eons away. You have a better atmoshphere but our team has beaten you there and you haven't beaten us hear for awhile.(not talking smack) You win games and consistently put a winning team on the field before you know we are there. You can't keep us down. We lost 3 straight at home and still sold out for homecoming in bad weather. Boosters are making big donations and I think we got the Big screen scoreboard before you did. Look out griz cause it won't be long when this program catches up. I would also like to add ESPN's 50 States in 50 Days poll gave the edge to MSU Bobcats as the favorite team in Montana.Swilly3224 wrote:Dear BN,
