You honestly think this will be an "advantage" over UM? UM has tradition and a pretty decent stadium. 8)

Granted, the indoor facility would be nice, but I don't think it would be an advantage in recruiting over UM.

It all comes down to Kramer and Hauck, IMHO.
Billings Griz: Blue and Gold didn't say "advantage" he said "one unique recruiting opportunity." You Griz fans are so defensive, you read things that aren't even there. Get ahold of yourselves someday please.

Yes, it would be "unique" in that MSU has one and no one else, including UM, has an indoor practice facility. That'd pretty much be the definition of unique.
No schit? hahaha

You guys be "unique". Like I said before, we have tradition and a "fairly" nice stadium. I think that is a more "unique" than a big barn to keep FOOTBALL players warm.

I think you could use more seating, JMO. Obviously, most kitty fans want an indoor practice facility, and I don't have a problem w/ that.

Opinions are like azzholes, everbody has one.....

SKY BOXES should be first as that can help fund the other improvements.
I've heard 2 different accounts - sky boxes around the north endzone and a mezzanine... the other being to duplicate the west side with the boxes over the students.

Most recently though, I'm an under the impression that sky boxes will be under construction this spring that will duplicate the west side over the students.

We have a significant waiting list for people wanting skyboxes right now, and all leases are renuable on Cat-Griz home years (or at least that's how it used to be when I knew people in the boxes). So this makes a lot of sense that we'd have new sky boxes at start of the '07 season... or else we might not see the additions until 2009

I hope it's sooner rather than later. Just makes the cost of them go up even more. If they pay for themselves outright then there is no reason why we can't start building them this year if the plan was to build them in the first place etc? I don't see a reason for the delay? Now if they don't pay for themselves 100% then I can see a delay for more money to be built up to help pay for them. Does anyone know if they would 100% pay for themselves if they were built?

Things may have changed, but sky boxes were originally a 5 year lease.

The comments regarding the Indoor Practice Facility have gotten a little SMACKEY (new term). If you go with what Kramer has said in the past (again second hand) he simply wants to practice in late fall and early spring without using the fieldhouse when the conditions warrant. I don't think he has ever expected a big recruiting benefit even though it can't hurt. I think he just feels that the outdoor practices during those late season blizzards are of little value.

It seriously will help... you cant even deny that. Any kid sitting on the fence will look at that practice facility and be wowed! I-AA team with a practice facility would be a very very big deal
Wow look at cool indoor practice facility, it is so cool! I want to come here so I can practice in there in front of no-one, then come out and play in the cold in front of no-one. That Griz stadium is cool, but wow that indoor facility is sweet. Don't be little sally's get out there and practice in the same enviroment you play. Will take a lot more than that.

The proposed indoor facility will serve other purposes than football practice. It would really help our track program to have more access to an indoor facility. The way it is now, the fieldhouse crew is expected to turn the arena setup around constantly, switching from stage shows, trade shows, basketball games, an occasional circus, state high school tournaments, our track needs, and more. The whole community has some use for the fieldhouse. When the weather bites, the arena is not always available for teams that need it, including football. The fieldhouse operation is scheduled very tight, and the stress on the facility and crew is high. If we're going to continue hosting all of these revenue generating events, something has to give. We've been lucky with the weather so far, and owe a lot to some individuals that make it all happen.

Sorry, that will benefit the cat program, it will be great. If drove by I would say wow! the cats are really making some large strides. You guys get a little sensitive with "move it to the smack board" come on fellas, relax.
Money could be used in other areas other than an indoor practice facility, you guys need to improve your game day experience, that would be the most beneficial to F-ball program. Not sure how, but throw a few million at that and see what happens.

I suggest skyboxes (as everyones said, there's a waiting list and they pay for themselves) closing in the north endzone over the locker rooms with seating below and getting rid of the junky bleachers in the south endzone...the view to the south is better anyway. Also, if you put sky boxes over the students section you block more of the view of the Bridgers, which I think is a bad thing. Then field turf w/ LIGHTS (why not have late August and September night games for all day tailgating) so Bozo can start hosting every state championship game on the same day at Bobcat Stadium! Talk about a great experience for the players, fans, and community, every other state around us does it, why not Montana.

A multi-sport indoor practice facility is on the agenda in Missoula too, along with new/larger football locker-rooms and a large football/meeting/academic center. Track and field, tennis, and other sports will use this facility in addition to football.

The construction schedule as it pertains to what comes first, second, third, etc., is not really up for debate unless the Regents decide they have a better idea. Thus, everyone can say what they would vote for, or build first, but the reality is that the sky suites will be first. If there is enough money by next spring, then the entire project will begin pretty much in parallel.

The goal is to have the suites ready for '07, which means the $$$$$$ from those will be available immediately. I talked to someone this weekend that said one of the leading designs is modeled after the suites at Autzen (UO) where they cantilever out over the stands below, putting you pretty much right on top of the field. Whether they get built this way, or not, depends totally on the design feasibility and the money. Nevertheless, with open fronts, these suites will be plenty loud compared to those portholes "they" have at the "other place." me

As Mike said above, the indoor facility is intended to be an MSU Athletics facility, not just FB. Once the indoor facility is built, then there are plans for upgrading the field house for hoops. Unfortunately (in my opinion), a designated hoops arena is many years down the road - but man, it would be very cool to have a hoops-only arena.

Hey Mike, do you know if the indoor facility would be used for indoor meets?
