Two week before the start of the Basketball practice
Official Basketball practice begins for both Men’s and women’s team in about two weeks. I just wanted to bring this up early enough and start hammering home a few things for the fans.
On the mens side we are going to ranked very low by just about everyone who will rate this team with logic as apposed to their heart. Don't be surprised if we are projected 7th to 8th (out of nine). Since I am a Bobcat thru and thru I know we will finish much better than that.
Now I am pretty excited to see this team get on the floor and play some ball. I think we have improved our athleticism and this team should be a very fun team to watch. I don't know if we will rack up a huge amount of points but we should see a lot of scrappiness and kids that really want to play. Another aspect that I think will fun to watch is that just about every one of our top 10 or more players knows they have a legitimate chance to earn a starting spot, so they will be motivated. On the down side of course we have only one returning starter. Only 4 players have ever taken the court in Bobcat colors and of the 10 others only one has been on campus for more that 4 months. Some of our best players may be freshman. Some of our more dependable players may be players like Carson Durr and Ted Morris. Don't be surprised if Huse puts non- tradition line up on the floor for much of games (3 guards, a small forward, and center or something). This team may not be a traditional team. We may run early and slow it down late or visa versa, while we look for combinations. These are things I find pretty exiting to watch this team take shape.
BUT....... we are going to let this team find its identity. Huse went out and found some great freshman far better than what I would have thought was possible after he was hired. Freshmen are unpredictable, and so are new JC players. We are going to win some games we should not and then turn around and lose to a team we shouldn't. Lets not get wrapped up in pure wins and loses, we will get plenty of wins down the road. We need to give this team support. While I know this year team is very confident that they can compete with anyone in the league, even still the basic foundation of this team’s best year will be next year and further. Just like Huse is determined to build this team "the right way" we need to make sure we are helping not hurting this team. Go to the game a cheer your hearts out, have fun when we win and just remind yourself of what is to come in the future when we do not. A new era in Bobcat basketball is about to start, let’s getting in on the ground floor and help build it.

My gut feeling is that we will compete.
Judging from Huse's track record he will show a much more balanced inside/out attack and control the tempo of the games MUCH more than we are used to. Don't look for the run&gun offense (defenses).
The young players will be able to compete because it wont be a one-on-one team (an oxymoron at that).
Team won't want to play us because of how hard they will have to work.
I can't wait...

I think this team will peak at the end of the year and may win some games down the stretch that people may not think they should win. I respect how coach Huse and his staff are building this team. It is a new era and it is going to be exciting. I agree with Mslacat let's get back to the strong tradition of supporting both our Men's and Women's teams.
