So I wonder if the Cats are picking up any new players from the portal ? The portal closes next Friday, correct? Or is that just for MSU and ISU guys due to playing in the natty? Can't keep it all straight.

It closes for players entering. They can be added whenever. But, at some point soon they wouldn’t be able to enroll and join the team until summer. Similar to Lamson

Agreed that Indiana is the best team in the country, but Oregon has had so many mistakes that it makes you wonder if all their players and coaches heads were actually there. Getting blown out by 40+ is wild!

No, they can be signed anytime. This signing period lets them play spring ball.

Not next fall. Just would miss spring ball. Can join in the summer with summer semester.

My understanding is you have to enter the portal by those dates, but you can be pulled out of the portal at any time.

My understanding is you have to enter the portal by those dates, but you can be pulled out of the portal at any time.

You can but the deadline is for enrollment for spring participation.

I dont know much about him. 260lbs. Seems big for DEs Cats use. Would he need to gain to play Interior here. Was he All American NAIA?. Would you project him as depth or starter? Don't we have several coming back and some redshirt and recruits.

I was talking to a guy the other day and he says if we can make it through the portal period without losing a ton we will be fine. I said the portal window is useless, and basically meaningless, because if a player doesn’t enter the portal but decides during spring semester he wants to leave he can just finish the semester and enroll at another school during the summer. There are tampering rules but it doesn’t matter they all do it. The portal really benefits the agents because they can build their book with transfers and shop them. If you made transfers sit out a year and got rid of agents, that would have an immediate effect on this disaster. The portal deadlines are for show and benefit the agents and schools looking for players to come in during the spring.

There were four guys who played heavily this year— Eiden, Parsons, Crews, and Solano.

I see three for sure for next year: Crews, Solano, and Brock.

Now maybe they are high on someone on the roster to be a 4th guy and play regularly, but we haven’t really seen it from any of them yet. And with how much we rotate and use 4 DE packages, having 5+ playable would be ideal.

I wouldn’t expect a big number by any means, but there will certainly be a couple at least by the time next fall rolls around.
