Nice to have a quality back-up. 8)
Is this the same Berquist that Griz fans were ready to have expelled from school by the end of the season?
Yes, same one... be interesting to see how he performs against a decent team.
I doubt he will get another chance real soon. With the Griz having a bye this Saturday, Swogger should have plenty of time to get his non-throwing hand ready for Week 4.
I would be willing to bet that Swogger goes down again. With the Griz O line, his limited mobility, and the fact that he has a history of being accident prone, I'm guessing once tough Big Sky play rolls around - he'll go down again. Hopefully not, but it's the nature of the beast. We were damn lucky that Lulay only left a game due to injury once in his career...

Billings, do you embarrass yourself as much on egriz as you do on this board?

Wasn't there a thread on BN before the SDSU-Montana game talking about how the Jackrabbits played in a "quagmire". It was an excuse for their loss, put forth by Cat fans. So do they suck or was their loss against UWL just a flue?

Hey, congrats, you didn't bring up anything about banging my mom.

Lulay was one of the best the Big Sky's ever had, glad he's gone. But honestly, I'd be more worried about your qb situation than ours.

On a somewhat side-note, Lulay had great success (obviously) against the Griz, but Kramer is still a sub-500 coach in Bozeman. It's great he wants to beat us all the time, but c'mon, he needs to pay attention to the other teams, as well.

When he goes 6-5/5-6 this year BN will fire him like they did Durham.

comments about the Cats qb like that demonstrate ignorance of the team. i mean, the first week out of the shoot and Carpenter is the I-AA player of the week. Rolovich doesn't skip a beat when he steps in. i'm not worried....

the griz on the other hand have really (no smack intended on this) nothing to gauge the strength of their qb's other then a soph qb with experience (a positive - but not earth shaking by any means) and a dinged up I-A drop down who hasn't really yet shown anything in a game (don't doubt he will). i think the griz have a strong core, but have proved nothing really yet at qb.

sorry to talk logic in the smack board....

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

still boggles my mind why griz bring up the past with Lulay and try to run him down?

Since I'm no rocket scientist, what's the significance of a IAA team getting beat by a DII with 20 scholarships?

Why is it that cat fans have difficulty dealing with reality?

you guys got your asses kicked by a D1 team that was taken into ot by Syracuse of all teams. not the Donivon McNabb team, a team that won only a single game i think *their record last year was not pretty...*

oh well, i am sure that swogger will do alright in the big sky.....i hope anyways

Hells, I'll wager you 750 ml of whatever adult beverage you prefer that Iowa will end the season ranked above Colorado in the polls.

And while you consider that, I'll be busy trying to figure out what what your comment has to do with catmandoo's post.

The loss sucked for sure. It was one of those games where everything went wrong for the Cats, and right for Chadron.....sort of like what happened a couple years ago when the Griz got beat by Div.II NDSU.

You just are not admitting the vast difference between Div.II and Div.III. That gap is wider than the Grand Canyon. Div.III teams are made up of wannabees who were not good enough to get a scholly ANYWHERE. It is like an intramural team playing the varsity. And still, SDSU lost by over 10 points! That SDSU coach must be drinking heavily by now.

Wait and see how badly they get destroyed again this week, and you may have of a chance of understanding.

Save your money, man. You Griz fans are living in the past. It is OVER. Get it? You days of glory are OVER. Kramer may never lose to Bevis again. It sure will not happen this year. We love your head coach, ole "one-n-out" (home playoff losses). We love your O-coordinator, "Mr. Offensive Juggernaut". Please do not fire them.

First of all, It's not that the Griz are worse than they were, say, ten years ago. It's that everyone else is catching up to where we are. When I say everyone, I mean the BSC. There's 5-6 teams that could win the conference this year. Who knows, this could be the year we don't make the playoffs.

Second of all, you'd rather NOT make the playoffs than make it and lose in round one? If so, MSU just as well shut down their program.

And lastyl, I have C-Note burning a hole in my pocket. Want to bet on the Griz/Cat game. Oh, I'm on BN...Cat/Griz?

Billings - Glad to see that at least you're 1 Griz fan that's keeping things in perspective. It amazes me how many Griz fans out there are way over-confident after beating SDSU. I've heard comments like "We're back", and "back to the Don Read days", and "we're going to be playing 2nd stringers for a lot of 4th quarters this year". Are you fricking kidding me? Once leagues games start we'll find out a lot...

catatac, I haven't heard any Griz fans saying the Griz are as great as what you've heard, but I do believe there is a lot of confidence (as I think there should be for the sixth ranked team in the country). But I agree that kind of hyperbole is crazy.

No more crazy than cat fans saying the Griz run is over, but still crazy.

Here's the scary thing, cat fans: Although we don't know how good the Griz will ultimately be this year, I think we can safely say they're going to be even much betternext year.

I believe this is the 3rd year in a row I've heard a griz fan claim this. Remember how good they all predicted they'd be after losing to the turf in Nooga in 04? They followed that up by fielding the worst offense they've had in 15+ years.

Speaking of next year, GinWa, how does it feel to know you'll be looking for a new starting QB AGAIN???

You apparently don't ever read egriz. There's at least a dozen posters a day reserving their rooms in "Nooga"

Nothing wrong with being confident. I think you have some talented players and definitely have the potential to be a good team. However, I've seen nothing so far this season to show me that you'll be much better than last year. I think you've upgraded the talent in the skill positions but will the O line provide, and will the OC properly use the talent? That all remains to be seen because just like last year, you haven't played a meaningful game yet. You got blown out by a much better team and you blew out a much worse team. I think you beat Sac State in a "closer than is comfortable" game, and lose to PSU by 10. After those 2 games we'll have a much better idea of that the 2006 version of Grizzly football will look like... Bobcats are in the same boat. Will we be a great team like the one that beat CO? Remains to be seen. Regarding next year, 2007 Bobcats look very promising as well.

The Griz OL has had a rough start each year for quite a while, starting in 2002 if I remember right. This year they seem to be a bit ahead of where they've been at this point. Time will tell.
Confidence should be high for fans of their team early in the season.
