God doesn't want anyone to go to Sacramento unless there's a fat bag of cash there.

What’s the over under on how many more times he decommits/re-commits the next 5 years…..

I’m putting it at 4…. And would take the overs.

Already gone from Boise to msu to sac…. And he is still in highschool. Hahahaha
The commitment notes on him in the 2026 Montana Recruits thread are going to be laughably long by signing day.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Good for the kid. No big deal for MSU. If it’s money that made him change his mind, good for him. Get it while you can. In this realm of college football he may be a Bobcat again somewhere down the line.

Wording of his social media posts aside, this kid is screaming to anyone who will listen that he's going to be the next in an increasingly long line of college football mercenaries who will have no hesitation to bail at the slightest sign of adversity or a better offer from another team. Calling it right now, after playing for 4 teams in his first 3 years he'll end up as the starting QB for the Griz in 2029 and go 7-5 in Bobby Hauck's ignominious final season as head coach.

You can never tell the future with the way NIL and transferring is these days. However, how many players have committed, then de-committed from a school, signed and played with another school, then come back to their previous committed school? I've seen players commit, then de-commit, then re-commit to a school before. I've seen players offered scholarships and then commit elsewhere, play at that location, and then eventually some back to the school that offered them out of high school. That's happened at MSU. JT Reed was at MSU, but left for a JC school and then came back to MSU, but that was because of personal reasons happening at home. I know coaches have short memories on this type of stuff and probably don't take de-committing personally, but I did see that Vigen unfollowed Presley on twitter. I have to think there has to be a limit to what the coaches will accept, but then again, winning is everything.

Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

He'll get more appealing offers before his senior HS season is over. He'll be on the move by October. Sucks that this is the nature of college athletics these days but it's not going to get any better. I'd actually find it refreshing if an athlete said "After much negotiating and conversations with my financial advisers (mom & dad), I've decided to transfer to ..."

I’d be careful of being too critical of kids changing commitments. Don’t think MSU/Vigen doesn’t recruit players who are already committed too. Just appreciate the ones who do decide to stick around, like Britt Linder. He said he turned down more money from Nevada to come here. Gotta love that.

It’s a double edged sword. If he doesn’t start right away he’s gone after one year. If he starts and plays well he’s gone after one year unless his folks have so much money that NIL cash is unimportant.
We can worry about that when/if it comes. Enjoy good players.
Tis better to have recruited and lost than never to have recruited at all...
With all the discussion on the bball board this is my state of mind. One of the reasons I love college sports so much is getting super excited about high-school recruits and following them through the program and seeing if they live up to their perceived potential. Kinda takes the shine off when the best case scenario is we get one or two really good years and they leave...
I would argue the worst case scenario is we get one or two really good years and they leave.

That’s a damn good worst case scenario.
The worst case is they don't play at all and leave after a year.
Actually worst case is we get all hyped up about them and they never even make it to campus. Seems we've seen that a few times recently...
You nailed it

I think we can all spin up multiple narratives about the what/why/when/where/hows of it, but I'm just happy to see another top Montana high school recruit decide to come to MSU.

Let the gris continue to be try to be Sac State - North....I love how Vigen is building the program with top high school talent.
The irony here with the Sac reference… I think you single-handedly jinxed this one :)

I've actually wondered about commits that still have a year to play HS ball. So much can change in that year: injuries, better offers, family situations, etc. To think a high school junior is mature enough and dedicated enough to make that commitment is a little risky imo. Regarding this guy, I would not be surprised at all if he decommits at least two more times before he steps on a college campus.

Actually, your quote still stands true. Sac and the Gris are largely building via the portal. The Cats are focused on developing kids from high school.

I’d worry about your own teams recruiting, but you do you.

That might actually be a smart move—it signals to programs that you're open to the highest offer, which could attract better opportunities. :-k

God's plan guys nothing to see here. Jesus would've taken the cash and scheme fit as well. Only the holy ones choose (checks notes) Sacramento State.

I hope this kid is more loyal to his dog, than the teams he's committed too. Poor pup could be looking at a trip to the shelter.

This probably would have worried or bothered me a few years ago, but I honestly just don’t care. It’s disappointing, but I’d rather him do it now than in a couple years. There’s some good QB’s on the roster, and plenty of time to get a commit, transfer, or even flip somebody who’s already committed. Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but I think we can look at this as a good thing too. I’d say good luck to the kid, but I’d be lying. Hope Sac sucks!
