Cats are up against a 105 player roster limit this season, right? 4-6 additional transfers will be inching up past that limit, unless someone leaves or is told to leave. I count 75 on the roster now, not including the extra kicker, with 30 incoming players.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 5:50 pmWhat I'm hearing:AFCAT wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 4:30 pmYeah, Firm is following a couple of transfer RBs and Vigen is following a different transfer RB. I’m sure the Cats want to fill Latin-Henley’s slot on the roster. I haven’t checked who the other coaches are following. Both the incoming freshmen RBs don’t look to be first year players to me, but I’m no talent evaluator.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 4:14 pmThere will be 6 RBs on the roster when Fall camp begins, but I can see adding a transfer if they intend to redshirt both of the true freshmen. Of course, I think redshirting players is a lot less important these days when there's no guarantee whatsoever that they'll be on your team for all five years if you do.
- Vigen loves the progress Chance and Pat showed this spring. That position should be a top 3 (no order yet) of Lamson, Wilson, and Duchien.
- Sterbick has been a seamless transition and a home run hire so far. Very good on the recruiting trail as well.
- Everett Carr and Braden Zimmer had really good springs. Rollins will factor in at right or left guard. JT may be our starting center but don't close the door on Aiden Kaplan. I don't see Burke moving to center. Titan and Cedric are the tackles but the young guys listed above along with Nilson took a step. One kid I also liked was Dalton Noble but he's probably a year away yet. The standard is the standard with this group.
- Looking for one or two more RBs. Either transfers or unsigned freshman.
- Receiver room has talent but the unit needs to develop a go-to threat other than Taco. Jacob Trimble may have been that guy this spring. Jabez Woods had a lot of buzz pre-spring and that showed true. Ryan King coming back was big for the group overall.
- TEs....we're loaded
- DEs have a great four man rotation but Seth Brock made his case this spring...at least as a passing down option. Great development.
- Howe likes fresh legs at DT and would prefer at least 6 to be able to play. Not surprised they pursued a grad transfer. Run defense is still a work in progress for that 2nd unit.
- I've been told LB was going to be a transfer spot since post-title game but Daily and Grebe are the starters. Cole Taylor had one of the best springs and Krahe keeps getting better. Still think we need one more...and so do the coaches.
- DB....needs a transfer or two. We have young guns but development is still needed. Wouldn't be surprised if two more are added before summer.
- Nickel...great shape.
- Safety will all hinge on Caden Dowler's and the progress of the transfers. They have followed safeties all winter and spring. I think they want more quality depth while still pushing the young ones.

I'm curious about that as well. We were super spoiled with Hall, and I'm guessing it's a pipe dream to think we're going to have a punter as good or a kicker that kicks it out of the end zone EVERY TIME.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Re: Bobcat Portal News Only
So unless there is someone that has quietly entered without announcing, it looks like we lost 3 guys in the spring portal, and all 3 were buried on the depth chart?
From what could have been, that’s pretty damn good to hold on to everyone else that would be in the projected 2 deep.
I still think it’s a matter of time before we lose a MT born player to the portal to an offer they can’t refuse, but I guess it’s just a sigh of relief every time the portal window closes and that doesn’t happen.
1st window was a bit rough, 2nd window not nearly so, and some other teams (NDSU) finally lost some important pieces in this second window to even out the effects a bit.

Yes, the Cats have a proven kicker in Sansted and two more recruits that kick coming in.
