Kenny’s interview had a nugget about the differences of Howe’s calls vs Daly. Attack vs bend don’t break.
MSU’s issue isn’t as much that as it is getting out of position. The more you attack, the more likely you are to get out of position. The better the opponent the more likely they are to be able to take advantage of being attacked.

Watched the scrimmage today. I mainly paid attention to the DBs. Taki looked good in limited reps and so did Meredith. I thought Warren did the best job at QB, followed by Duchien. Chance had a nice TD run. Warren had a sweet TD pass into double coverage.

Recall who caught it?

Lencioni and Schlepp both caught TD passes but it was either Duchien or Wilson that threw those. I can’t remember who caught the one thrown by Warren, since it was on the opposite side of the field and there were two defenders on the play. Everyone got excited after the catch and ran to congratulate the receiver, so there was a large mass of players around.

It’s hard to obviously tell during spring ball, however, has the running game taken a step back or is defense stepping up? I’m guessing no Jones or Davis, so was it White, Coon and Henley? Also, from Vigen’s interview last week and the sounds of this scrimmage, Duchien seems to be right in the mix, Wilson seems to have some wheels and it’s encouraging to hear that Warren is competing well already. Really wasn’t that long ago, that i was always worried about who’d be the next man up at QB.

Yeah, no Jones or Davis. Davis was on the opposite sidelines in pads, but he didn’t play in the scrimmage. Davis was injured about this time last year in a scrimmage, so it makes sense to hold him out. Lots of starters were held out. Heck, Taki only played a few series but looked pretty good to me. He still needs some weight though and was really vocal on the sidelines. I saw most of the d-line starters, except Eiden, on the sidelines in civies. I’m guessing the defense also knows the offensive plays pretty well and that has something to do with them holding the offense to a lower rushing production, more than the offense taking a step back. I did see quite a few errant snaps by the center too, so that’s something they need to work on. Just my personal opinion, but I thought Duchien and Warren looked the best at QB, but Wilson does have some wheels. Warren moved the team pretty dang well, but I don’t know what defensive team (1st, 2nd, etc.) he was playing against. He also nearly threw a pick six, but the pass was dropped by the defender. I think we were spoiled with Tommy’s ability to get out bad situations with his legs and that’s something the Cats will miss.

Sansted was still steady Eddie. Golan had a nice 40ish yard field goal, but barely made an extra point try that was almost comical in how it flopped through the air and barely made it over the cross bar.

Edit; Crews was doing the long snapping, since our incoming freshman long snapper isn't here yet. Zac did a nice job and only Webered one ball into the endzone. I believe it was Sansted doing the punting, since our incoming freshman punter isn't here yet, and he did a nice job. They didn't do any kickoff drills.

Oh, I saw Callahan O’Reilly, Brody Grebe, Rylan Ortt, and Marcus Wehr in the stands.

spring scrimmage is to get the 2's and 3's time to shine or be asked to find a new home. 1's are out coaching....

Some of them.
Eiden, Crews, Parsons, Grebe, and Daley played the whole scrimmage on defense. I didn’t look at the offense much but I know I saw Provience, Schlepp, Fleischman, Dowler, and JT Reed out there the whole scrimmage.

So is it likely that most starters will be held out of the spring game?

Hopefully. I'd rather they stay healthy than get hurt in a meaningless game. However, the scrimmage I watched on Saturday had a fair amount of starters on both sides playing.

Editor's note here - we are using a new streaming service to record these videos. This is the first one. We had a buffering issue and I sound like I just got done at the dentist or something. We will remedy this moving forward....

Only watched Greene’s interview so far. Really enjoyed listening to him, especially when he mentioned being from the Banks coaching tree.

From what I've gathered, Duchein has been a bit of surprise so far in terms of how well he's doing. I think everyone knew he was capable but weren't expecting him to be doing as well as he has. The QBs have all looked good, so it's still very up in the air, but in a good way. The TEs and WRs are also playing very well with lots of options. The center position still needs to be ironed out with Reed, Mastel and Nilsson all in contention. Defense has been stout up front as expected with or without the big-name guys.
