Hes a late round pick on a rookie contract, though, correct? Last pick in the draft? Tommy Mellot could squeak into the 7th round.

Predictions for Purdy are for a $300m+ contract this offseason.

I'm not sure how a player gets a better payday than playing for Ohio State.

Edit: Looks like they are all backups. Likely transferring to get playing time, not for money. (Although playing time may equal money)

Brown is from Nebraska but you probably knew that and are just splitting the topic. It’ll happen eventually where a Montana player portals but I don’t think it’ll ever become a trend.

Like NDSU football, MSU football can absorb the typical transfer portal turnover from year to year.

It will be interesting to see in the next 10 days what happens with MSU and the transfer portal. The spring entry window closes on the 25th but MSU doesn't finish spring practice until the following day, so anyone leaving MSU will have to declare their intent to transfer before spring ball ends. Unless there's some kind of exception for players from teams like MSU with later than normal spring practice.

I think it sucks to see the best talent transfer out of the FCS. Which got me thinking, is the transfer portal a reason that teams outside of the Big Sky and MVFC can’t put together a championship caliber team?

The transfer portal is the reason some FCS schools can put a team on the field at all. Remember UTM? I believe half their roster came from the portal? I didn’t think UTM had that great of a defense and I see they lost four of their defensive players back to the FBS. Crazy.

Note that 16 of those followed their coaching staff to Washington State, slightly different than 21 just leaving and moving up.

Jason Eck also heavily recruited from the FCS, he has signed 17 FCS transfers so far although only 7 of those of them followed him from Idaho.

There was a delay in the house settlement in regards to NIl, and there is some big money being thrown at players right now because there is no cap. Bisonville seems worried some more players might go. Fingers crossed the Bobcats don’t get any surprise entries this week.
