If we got to the semi's with Tucker Rovig I don't see why we can't do it now that Tommy's gone.GoCats18 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 9:58 amWell, if you think that any one of the QB’s on our current team will lead us to the semifinals or beyond, you’re insane. Our O-line and D-line last night looked mediocre at best. Tommy created most of the yards we gained by scrambling or taking off running. No pressure on Cam Miller whatsoever. You think our 2-3 deeps will do any better next season, that’s laughable.

What is laughable is you telling these young men coming back that they are not good enough. Every single one can and will improve just like the players before them. The model of developing players and building depth has worked pretty good over the past 14 years for the fluffy cows.GoCats18 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 9:58 amWell, if you think that any one of the QB’s on our current team will lead us to the semifinals or beyond, you’re insane. You should check out the pink team on the other side of the hill. You would fit right in with them.

Re: Continuing the Program Building
We also made a run to Frisco with a totally unproven freshman and a semifinal run with a couple banged up qbs and a bunch of young kids playing major roles for the first time. Last night was nothing less than a missed opportunity, and a good opportunity, to win a national championship. But it was also nothing more than that and portends nothing for future Bobcat teams. 18 is a self-identified troll who gets off on playing on people's frazzled nerves. Pretty likely he doesn't even believe the drivel he's posting, so the rest of us should adjust accordingly.Duane wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 6:26 pmWhat is laughable is you telling these young men coming back that they are not good enough. Alright…I will be 100% honest and stop talking bs to get people fired up. We are going to be completely fine next season. We have 2 great recruiting classes coming up. These guys coming back have every reason now to be more fired up and have more to prove than the class that’s leaving. Will be interesting to see who we get as OC and O-line if those two leave. I would give anything to see Jason McEndoo come back.

I spoke with a guy who talked to his Dad, and his dad said he could have played yesterday. I was hoping he would have gone in. Would be an awesome back field if he stays though. Might have get creative in how we use them all.

Ya, I talked to his dad also. He told me the same.
Seeing Rohan uncharacteristically drop two balls—it makes sense to be slow bringing guys back who haven’t played in awhile.

Theres one huge question mark--QB. But have faith...Tee Martin comes to mind. Tennessee still hasn't had a QB even close to the caliber of Peyton Manning, yet they won the NC the year after Peyton with a very average Tee Martin.

One thing everyone should ask themselves is what games might MSU lose without Mellott in 2024. UNM, EWU, UCD, USD? IMO MSU at least goes to the semis without him.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I agree with the general point, but it's also definitely possible to do worse than Tucker Rovig for a quarterback.Cledus wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 5:11 pmIf we got to the semi's with Tucker Rovig I don't see why we can't do it now that Tommy's gone.GoCats18 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 9:58 amWell, if you think that any one of the QB’s on our current team will lead us to the semifinals or beyond, you’re insane. Re: Continuing the Program Building
Question: Who will be our true team leaders next year? Ones that the other players fully buy into. The leaders this year were exceptional, IMO, and may be hard to replace.nanacat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 8:51 amWhat does it take? It can't be all about the almighty dollar. There needs to be motivation beyond that. Listening to Tommy and Cam's interviews prior to the game they both referenced staying with their respective teams and the value in that, for consistency sake at the least.
Last year after the loss the Cats team rallied together and determined to take everything at a 1-0 mentality, stuck with each other, committed to each other, and the program. Sounds like NDSU took a similar path after losing the games they did by lifting each other up and determining to not lose again, and it worked.
Sports are so mental, emotional. Loving your team, trusting your coaches, and playing with pride to represent your program are keys.
How does MSU move forward promoting the culture of Montana State Football and get guys from both in state and out of state to buy in and stay committed?
This is from an article I read last night, "MTN Sports spoke with the father of running back Julius Davis who said there’s no place his son would have rather played than in the blue and gold.
“Julius got a lot of ties with NDSU with coach Tim Polasek trying to recruit him from Iowa to Wyoming,” Dornaj Davis said. “But the Bobcats got him, and there's a reason for that. Because the fans, because the environment and the whole wholesome coaches and the humblest coaches.”
Maybe that's what it takes.

That's a great question! Eiden comes to mind first, Reed, and Davis if he stays. Otherwise I'm not sure. There's a much younger group, not as many upperclassmen to step into those roles.KIX wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:44 amQuestion: Who will be our true team leaders next year? Vigen(hired February 2021) on short notice, brought in Matt McKay. McKay wasn’t great, but he was good enough to help msu to wins over Weber and EWU on the road. His only losses were to Wyoming and at UM (29-10; keep in mind Mellott lost 37-7).
I’d say that if Vigen decides to bring in a quarterback, he’ll be fairly good.
MSU’s schedule isn’t tough. Sure loss at Oregon. Two tough games at UM and NAU. I think MSU will be favored in both but the venues are both difficult. I think MSU is either 11-1 or 10-2. UCD and SDSU might be good, but that’s very up in the air as neither team has shown that it can replace losing players like Gronowski, Larison and Hastings. SDSU has essentially been the same team for three years from ‘21 to ‘23. Their offense was down this year and is up in the air next year. The defense loses Bock, but should be okay. UCD is good and I like Plough but he’s going to be tested with a tougher schedule this year without Hastings and Larison around.
