The biggest concern I'd have, initially, is having to rename the stadium like ISU did. That would suck. But there's no guarantee that would have to happen. Before we all get our panties in a wad, let's see what this "big gift" is and what strings are attached. Some financial help is very necessary. I'm not sure it's wise to reject it out of hand until we have all the info.

Okay, so why is the YC shady, corrupt, and a crappy organization? Why are they considered the devil?

I guess I feel like a sizable gift would be going to help improve facilities to enhance the experience for not just our generation, but generations to come. It is ok for people to have qualms about where the money is originating, but it isn’t as if MSU is becoming partners with the cartel or anything nefarious.

I’m sure the administration has done their due diligence regarding the donation and what it would mean. That doesn’t mean I have to include the words “eternal gratitude and praise for the Yellowstone Club” whenever I say the pledge of allegiance or sing the national anthem.

You’ve got it right except it’s not “our smell” test its “their smell test” and by golly if they give a couple hundred million well we sure better not recognize it. Who would think of such a thing?

Yeah, its not ideal to have to rename Bobcat Stadium. But, most stadiums/arenas have a corporate name now. Seems like a real missed opportunity if that opportunity exists.

It very much was under Tim Blixseth.

Embezzlement, improper use of funds, illegal employment practices, improper and illegal payroll practices. Had millions of gallons of crap leak into the Gallatin because they refused to install a real sewage system. Liquor license violations, followed by the hiding of and illegal sales of liquor when licenses were suspended.

Bankruptcy...

Ultimately I think when YC is brought up as a donor they are talking about a member, not the club itself. Its a club of the rich but not sure it has hundreds of millions to donate.

It's now owned by some investment group out of Boston, I believe.

Just dovetailing off your remark, I believe the club itself is more akin to a homeowners association / property manager.

I believe Crossharbor Capital out of Boston bought it back in 2009 or 2010 after Blixseth filed for bankruptcy.

That's right. I did remember the word cross in the name, but forgot the rest. I used to work on the audit.

Glad the potential sponsor is not Nike… oh wait, they have questionable practices in manufacturing. We should probably also strike out Walmart, Amazon, Microsoft, GM, big oil, mining, any pharmaceutical, etc.

As one poster mentioned, it is not like we would be dealing with the cartels or organized crime.

By the way, this is all speculation. It could be a past graduate who wants to make a major donation. People need to get ahold of themselves. This thread is ridiculous.

I’m excited. Outside of Montana nobody knows about YC or its affiliations. Our rivals will give us a bad time, but they would love to have that kind of money coming in.

Stadium expansion finally????
FBS dropped the stadium size/attendance requirement.
Correct me if I am wrong, but they didn't drop the attendance requirement when Idaho pretended to be FBS.

Washington-Bobcat Stadium or Yellowstone Stadium?
Neither and also a big no to something stupid like Oregon Montana State Stadium or Idaho Montana State Stadium.
