Vigen obviously wanted the WAZZU Job.
Wazzu were A*#*$%LES about letting Vigen stay and Coach thru Frisco.
Lets all hope WAZZU goes 1-11 next year!! (rogers didnt do a thing except keep the ship afloat with 22-23 year old covid players)

I can see them getting back into top tier, but they’re almost guaranteed to lose a lot of players now. Next season could be roughCodyCat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 8:32 pmI think SDSU will be right back into the top tier. They are so damn successful in almost all their other sports. They will make a good hire and get right back to top tier. I mean, who in the heck is waiting in the wings to be elite? Maybe USD. But we’ll see if that was a one hit wonder.

Yeah, I think its a bit of a stretch to pretend that Rogers didn't have a lot to do with that team...I mean, he's been at SDSU (except one year) since he graduated from high school 20 years ago.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 8:05 pmRogers recruited a lot of that team too.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 7:04 pmStig built that thing for 20 years. Time will tell. I don't agree. I mean he's a pedigree guy there, agree with that. But I'm not buying him as a big time coach. Re: Wazzu just lost their HC
I think he’s a good match for the state of the Wazzu program. He’s got enough swagger and bravado to think he can deal with all of the obstacles and come out with a winning combination. If you’ve watched any of his interviews, he does not lack in confidence. Hopefully, it’s enough because I think he’s got a big job ahead of him. This is a total overhaul versus being handed a national championship caliber team.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 10:06 pmTime will tell. I don't agree. Just know that there is a very good chance we will be doing this same stuff next year. You have to figure if the right job is out there, he is going to take it. Unless MSU can find a way to pay him and the entire coaching staff more. Now, let’s go win a F******* National Championship!!! GO CATS

I'm not really saying hes a big time coach...maybe the kind of coach that can get a job at a mid-tier G6 school? I think Vigen has a vastly better resume, which is why I've been arguing that Vigen can afford to hold out for a better job.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 10:06 pmTime will tell. Don't wanna jinx anything but - just because Vigen didn't goto wazzu doesn't mean he'll be in Bozeman next fall. Potentially so, although it seems unlikely that there will be much more movement in terms of head coaching jobs coming available. Would Vigen have interest in leaving for a P4 assistant job like Choate did? Maybe, maybe not. Turns out that in the Transfer Portal era, the best way to retain your coach is to keep playing into January and take advantage of the sense of urgency these schools have to get coaches in place ASAP.91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 8:17 amDon't wanna jinx anything but - just because Vigen didn't goto wazzu doesn't mean he'll be in Bozeman next fall. Could be. Less likely every week. The most likely scenario is prime goes to the league and Vigen is either a candidate there (unlikely) or gets swept up in the domino effect. Same goes for other nfl jumps creating a domino effect (lanning? Freeman?), but other than that or another unforseen retirement, we're almost thru the hiring cycle.91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 8:17 amDon't wanna jinx anything but - just because Vigen didn't goto wazzu doesn't mean he'll be in Bozeman next fall. I think he's a lot like Bobbi Hauck. Reasonably successful at this level with a program that was not built by him and thinking he can "move up" and be successful on his own. I'll give him a couple years and he'll be back down to FCS ball. Just like Bobbi.

After last night’s debacle against BYU, Deion should be happy to still be in Boulder. He’s losing two first round players and next year will be his real test as a head coach.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 8:43 amCould be. Less likely every week. Re: Wazzu just lost their HC
Sadly, for MSU coaches it’s outside income that needs to be elevated to keep coaches in Bozeman. Bobby makes more than Vigen, which is not great considering the only reason Hauck isn’t on the hot seat is Junior Bergen. Hauck completely under-utilized #5 this year and thought 33 year-old Ostmo was their guy instead of Gillman.MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 8:41 amPotentially so, although it seems unlikely that there will be much more movement in terms of head coaching jobs coming available.
