Coyote fan here. Coming in Thursday for what I expect will be a great game. Before I get into the game scenario I have a coup,e questions.

1.) Restaurant recommendation?
2.) Are opponents fans welcome to your tailgate?

bigger problem is finding lodging. good luck.

Ok, now the game. Opening statement I’d make is I truly think this is the national championship game. Both NDSU & SDSU are good. We’re good. You’re good. Any of these final 4 teams can win it.

I’ve read how some on here think Davis was in the game the whole way. Mathematically yes….feeling no. If we played them 10 times on neutral field we’d win 8. As much as you had control at Davis it still came down to the last 2 point conversion. Football gets whacky at times. Same thing in our game. We were in control most the game.

I have deep respect for your team. They remind me of us. Resilient. Traditional schools of thought go out the window. You could jump on us by 14 early and I still think the game goes deep into the 4th. If we jump on you by 14 early I know it will go into the 4th.

Our QB is good. Dad was an NFL QB, so he has been developed for years. He’s playing his best ball right now. And he truly has a lot of weapons to throw to. Plus we have (2) RB’s that have both rushed over 1000 yards. Pierre is elusive and fast. Theiss is human bowling ball. He’d just as soon run over you as look at you.

Our defense is a bend but not break D. Front line is very good. Our secondary is pretty good, not great, but better than most in FCS Our linebackers have improved every week.

My personal belief is IF we can control your QB when he takes off. He’s extremely good and very dangerous. IF we control him I like our chances. If not, then it gets dicey.

I’ve been to your stadium twice. Love the setting. I love how you back the Bobcats.

Looking forward to my upcoming days in Bozeman. Would love to go back and forth with you all.
1. wasabi.
2. hell yeah.

good write up but one big change. MSU will have the best rushing team in our history with the #1 back out for multiple games and #2 out a few. this week we may have 5 deep ready to roll. G. Coon was buried on our depth chart as he is on yours. Mellott was stopped from running all year, is better at hitting the ground or the sideline, but now he will pull all the stops. I foresee a triple headed beast coming out this weekend and running for 350 yards. passing? mellott throws when he needs to and only when we need. keep the ball on the ground, pound pound pound. watch for 2 or 3 td passes from outside midfield.

And hell yeah opponents are welcome. We as a fanbase love to talk ball and love welcoming out of state fans to our beautiful state. Enjoy the trip man

1. Pick anywhere, other than a chain, and they will all be about the same. Better than average, but for the most part over priced, like everything in Bozeman.not much of a foody, so my recommendations probably fall short compared to most that like to go out and eat during gameday weekends. Burger bobs is good for burgers and reasonably priced and it’s right downtown next to the bar scene and shopping. Ale works is decent but will be higher prices. There are a bunch of unique dinning spots all downtown, (Ted’s, copper whiskey, brigade, plonk, JW, Dave’s sushi, blackbird, etc.)but we usually stick to the bar types. I will say that if you’re looking for breakfast, go to the western cafe down town but get there early. It’s about as Montana as you can get in Bozeman.

2. You can swing by our tailgate, it’s right on Kagy and we will have a sign that says Galt Tailgate, you are more than welcome to stop over for food and beverages.

If your left, you aren’t right.

I appreciate you stopping by and giving some insights into your team. I think this game is going to be a major battle of heavy weights. Im very happy its in Bozeman. I think you are going to really enjoy the tailgate. Every tailgate that I know is really welcoming to visiting fans. Its a real joy to get to know new people and hear about their team. If you don't know yet, be in your seat for the pregame show. I'm biased, but I think MSU has the best run out in college football.

I have no food recommendations because I live close to Bozeman. Its a really easy 3 hour drive, so most games we go there and back. However, we did stay last weekend and had tremendous food at Iho's. Its authentic korean bbq right off of main street. Id recommend calling wherever you are going to eat and get a reservation. Downtown gets really busy.

I think the Yotes will be a very stiff test for the Bobcats. That said, Davis made it a one possession game in the middle of the 4th. It was far from "in control" and that was despite 6 turnovers by the Aggies AND being without Larison. Imagine you lose Theis AND Bell in the first qtr last week? That's how much Larison means to Davis. There's a reason he nearly made it Frisco as a Payton finalist. Davis became much easier to defend and had their offense cut off at the waist.

Plenty of good breakfast spots just google. If you like craft beer Bozeman has some really good ones. Bridger as someone mentioned is right by the stadium and has pizza. Map Brewing is a bit out of town but has arguably the best beer and decent food. Ale Works is on Main and is a really good gastropub. Roost for fried chicken.

You will be welcomed at the tailgates so make time for it.

I gandered at the USD forum. Their fan base is an extremely defensive bunch. 2506 and another poster greeted them with open arms and all they get is, ‘the Montana stadiums aren't nearly as loud as the Dakota Gravy Domes’.
Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed, I enjoy talking with fans from other teams but that place is really dead and they don't even respond.

UT Martin I couldn't even find a message board.

1. Other than the Western for breakfast I cant comment, not much of a foodie but I like a good omlet.
2. Any tailgate will welcome you, offer a beer and want to hear about your team and discuss football. Oh comon out at halftime and chug another drink and discuss how its going, but gotta be back in for the kickoff.

I think its an interesting matchup, We have played a few strong fronts like yours. I still expect us to use the run game to force you to load the box, once you do we will spread it to the sidelines and start wearing out the linebackers, and don't forget about Tommy, if somebody misses a read he will make the pay.

You defense looks very good, maybe the weakest part is your secondary but that isn't something we attack a lot. Our MO seems to be to use the run game to force you to load the box and play man, then we will take some deeper shots.

I like your RB #5, He runs really hard, he's a good receiver out of the backfield too. You TE is a concern, I don't think I have seen him before, I watched you games with SDSU, NDSU, Davis and a little of the Tarleton game. I think he is a good big TE and seems to be a playmaker. #14 is another player we will have to watch, looks to have good speed and hands. I think you QB is pretty steady with a good arm, doesn't seem to be a threat to run though. Your OL Looks very good, they will be a challenge for our defensive front.

Our defense is disciplined and still pretty deep, We lost 3 key people earlier in the season but their replacements have been in place for sometime now.

Sounds like it will be good weather and the stadium will have a lot of energy. USD hasn't played outside since SDSU and have only had on road game since then. I don't think it will be a huge factor, but it will be something for USD to deal with.

Don't miss our runout, its pretty good

My recommendation for Saturday is breakfast at Stormcastle right by campus then stop by our tailgate for Ceasers and Bloody Marys.

I just read that the Yokes don't fear the crowd noise at MSU because they play very well in the fluffy cow barn north of them. But do they play well in COLD LOUD?

(For those SD fans visiting, the above was made in jest.) May this be an injury free game.

If you like an old-school bar with good food if I had one place to choose, it would be Stacy‘s at Gateway.
They don’t do reservations they do first come first served, but you can hang out in the bar if that’s your thing until your name comes up on the list. Suggest getting there early if you do it on Friday or Saturday.
As far as the game goes, all four teams left are definitely good. Montana State will have to get into their game and control the clock to win this game. If not, it’s gonna get dicey. Look forward to it gonna be a blast. We also tailgate on Kagy North side of the street right next to Galt.
My tunes are usually cranked and there’s always beer and 99% of the time we’ve got pretty good food

I think the key to the game for us is controlling the ball and our run support being good enough to fill the gaps. Specifically our safetys coming up to support the run, but still maintaining the occasional pass Defense

Thanks for the good info Frienemy! One tidbit I was going to point out, is if anyone is using the UC Davis games as an indicator of how this game will go, probably fools gold. I watched your game and I agree it looked like you somewhat has control of them most of the game. That said, it was much, much closer than the Cat\UC Davis game despite the score. Cats really dominated UCD from start until about six and a half minutes left in the game. It was 30 to 8... and thanks to some miscues, it could have been even more lopsided than that. Then a bunch of weird things happened, uncharacteristic mistakes by the Cats, some crazy excellent plays by UCD, onside kick recovered, etc. Keep in mind, this game was at UCD.

Anyway - may the best team win!

Brode Grebe might just have a good day, He will be coming from the blindside on the Lefty QB for USD. By golly we might even see a holding call or 2 for a change. Any Word on which officiating conference crew for the game?
It would be SHOCKING if we actually got a holding call. #freeGrebe
