Someone explain to me why the regular season games were sellouts and this critical playoff game (in perfect weather) is not.
I believe regular season numbers are tickets sold. Which counts every season ticket whether they are there or not. Some of the money from playoff games goes to the NCAA, so reporting more accurately helps MSU.
Hating the griz since 02.

And they were sold out last week, where they were selling SRO tickets, but then they released a bunch this week, might have thrown some folks off.
Also, given hotel prices and weather this weekend, along with point spread, some folks may be choosing to do some outdoor activities this weekend planning to attend the next two.

A lot of people with businesses have season tickets (some several seats) they uses them for a few games and give them away employees, clients, friends and whatnot. It is a bit of a status thing for them.
Playoffs are shorter notice and if those same people want to go they just buy enough tickets for themselves.
I am one of the guilty ones, we have 4 season tickets, there are three of us that regularly go, we use the extra ticket to take an extra friend or grandkid usually but come playoff time we just buy three tickets.

Regular season schedule is out for a year while this game has 2 week notice. We have a lot of fans who drive long distance who maybe cannot commit on such short notice, especially during winter when the weather report can't really be accurate until a few days before
Several of my out-of-towners are skipping this in order to make the quarters and semis.

Yes, I have friends who tell me they are coming next week. Wow, I never take for granted a win in the playoffs.
I watched a game a couple of weeks ago, GA Tech vs. Georgia. I believe that Georgia was a 24 point favorite. It went 8 OTs.
Tech won in every possible way except on the scoreboard, thanks to a missed FG. They outgained Georgia.
PLUS, the game was played AT GEORGIA. So, no way I'm taking any playoff game for granted.

NCAA mandates no noise makers in the stadiums for playoff games. Stupid rule, but that's the way it is. However, I don't consider megaphones noisemakers, so smuggle away.

I always forget about that rule because Wash-Griz never has artificial noise makers. No cowbells, megaphones, thunder sticks, air horns, etc. Just loud voices.

Not that it really matters but I think the more MSU has participated in the playoffs the less they adhere to the rules set by the ncaa. The rodeo team will still lead the team out, we will still have our runout music, the cannon will still boom and yes there will be cowbells. Home field should matter and not be sterilized like it was in our first few playoff appearances.

Lolol
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

It is a 6-1/2 hour drive for me, so I usually plan my trip in January and February so I can get a decent hotel at a decent price. It is anywhere from 2 people to 6 or 8, with this many people it is like herding cats, rarely does it start out with the same people who want to go in February as the ones who actually go in the fall.
