Re: Vigen Front Runner for Fresno State HC Position
You do what makes you happy, and I will do what makes me happy. This place would be boring as hell if we all acted like everything was glorious. Vigen is a hell of a coach and I would hate to see him go, just like Choate. But there are 2,000 grown ass men on this site and half act like 16 year old girls when you make a comment they don’t like. It’s freakin hilarious.

This is ALL noise and distractions…focus on the prize and whatever the future holds is in the future.
GC18 has already said he likes to stir you up…and though a blind squirrel occasionally does find a nut, most of the time it’s just wandering around in the dark.
UT Martin is what Vigen and staff are focusing on… 1-0!

Re: Vigen Front Runner for Fresno State HC Position
Due to recruiting/portal season I imagine they aren't going to let him wait. If he's going he'll have to announce it and likely leave so he can start over there immediately. Their team can't afford to keep things up in the air and he won't want to hide it from the Bobcats. Plus, these things never stay quiet.MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 5:14 pmWell, if Vigen is headed to Fresno it will be interesting to see how they handle the public announcements of the move. Does he do it like Matt Entz at NDSU did last year and announce he's leaving while MSU is still alive in the playoffs or do they keep everything quiet until MSU's season is over? The best thing the Bobcats can do is just keep on winning, make Fresno wait, and hope they get impatient as other teams start signing all their transfer guys.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

I know very little about which coach the Bobcats should hire next, but my vote would be for Ted Lasso as long as he brings Coach and Roy Kent with him.

MSU is a player-led team. Coaches work to make their teams be that way. Not saying it’s going to have zero effect but it’s probably not as big of a deal as many think. It may be a motivating factor. Us against the world mentality can be a strong factor.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

FWIW, the RedditFCS account is run by the mod of /r/FCS, PasswordIsGuest. He’s really knowledgeable and cheeky but he definitely has no love lost for the other top programs in the FCS lol. I believe he did NDSU undergrad and Delaware as his grad school but similar to Herder just roots for the FCS as a whole to do well.

I thought Vigen was going to be hired by Boise State last year. Wasn't that the big rumor that got everyone worked up in 2023?

Yes, stay focused on what is in front! Not, maybe’s and could be’s when it likely is smoke and mirrors!

I think he is 12.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 3:22 pmSo by your own admission you're saying that you're an internet version of the little boy who cried wolf. Uffda, your family, children and grandchildren must be so proud of you. The kind of laughter you're getting there might not be as beneficial as you think.GoCats18 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 2:33 pmYou guys are hilarious. If you believe everything you read, I feel very sorry for you. I post a lot of stuff because I get more enjoyment out of watching people like you believe it, let it stew inside you and then watch you go full attack mode. What I am saying here, is that if Vigen does leave which is a possibility, at least he isn’t leaving the program with a 3-9 or 2-10 record. The next coach isn’t rebuilding, they walk into an amazing program that both Choate and Vigen have done an incredible job building. But, keep taking the bait please because if laughing does make you live longer, I’m going to be 130 when I go.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 1:26 pmDispleasure with Vigen at this point?Costello made a great hire, and if he can hire someone as successful as Vigen again, whenever that may be, we'll be extremely lucky. He's the best head coach we've had here in a very, very long time.

Only thing I know for sure is that GoCats18 isn’t going anywhere so everyone better get used to him. He’s a cranky old man and likes to spin BN up!

He’s clearly interested in moving up, and rightfully so. This is the second year where he’s being mentioned with jobs…that doesn’t happen without interest on his side too.centralmtfan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 7:41 pmI think he won't go anywhere. Two boys in he program and seems like a loyal guy.

Re: Vigen Front Runner for Fresno State HC Position
There's interest in moving up, for sure. Just remains to be seen what level is a good enough step up for him. My personal hunch is he would go to Fresno, but maybe he's holding out for something bigger or not in Fresno. Of course, he's spent most of his life in Fargo and Laramie, so Fresno might not seem that bad. But that place really sucks.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:53 pmHe’s clearly interested in moving up, and rightfully so. Re: Vigen Front Runner for Fresno State HC Position
I'm sure he's interested in moving up at some point to the right opportunity but I also wonder if he has to express interest in these jobs and go through the interview cycle every year so that teams stay interested in him. Maybe he's happy in Bozeman for now but he can't signal that to the national audience or he'll drop off their radar. He's getting more practice presenting himself to teams but maybe more importantly, he's getting his name out there every year as a potential candidate. At some point the right team will get him on their list and he'll get the offer he wants. He may not be interviewing to get an FBS job in 2025, he may be interviewing to get an FBS job in 2027 or 2028 or 2029.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:53 pmHe’s clearly interested in moving up, and rightfully so. Vigen could also be getting his name out there to score a pay raise from MSU. Worked for Logie this year.

Sounds like it worked for both of the USU frontrunners as well. Let's keep our fingers crossed...

Re: Vigen Front Runner for Fresno State HC Position
I know moving up is a goal for most, getting bigger and better opportunities, but what keeps a guy in one place to build a winning program? Besides the money. Vigen played and coached at NDSU, a tremendously successful FCS program with the most National Championships and multiple players in or having been in the NFL. Every year, for alot of years, they're in the top 3, if not #1.
With what Vigen has built at MSU, and players have commented on the program being built in their interviews, what if his goal isn't to move onto the next bigger, better thing, but to build MSU into a program like the DSUs? To compete at the national championship level every year, to place guys in the best spots to get NFL opportunities. He's got 2 sons at MSU, (will have), so maybe he'd like them to be on a National Championship team. With the BAC and indoor facility, MSU is knocking on the door of being in the same conversation annually as the DSUs, and frankly has been since Vigen came here. Maybe, just maybe, he sees a future here making MSU the best FCS football program in the nation.
