Great Divide Trophy
I am curious if anyone has an answer as to why the trophy seems to have a griz emblem on the bottom. If you have seen the video of when the trophy got tipped over while it was being pushed out for the Bobcat players you will notice the griz emblem on the bottom. Why is it there? It needs removed.

Its was just a sticker. Apparently its been on there for awhile but it took the incident for anyone to notice. I'd be pretty sure it isn't there anymore.

It was just a bush league action showing that program's sense of entitlement and lack of class.bcats wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 5:10 pmI am curious if anyone has an answer as to why the trophy seems to have a griz emblem on the bottom. Wasn’t it discovered someone had written “griz” on the bottom of the Sonny Holland Statue prior to it being mounted on its pedestal? Glad corrective action was taken.

Re: Great Divide Trophy
There was some guy with an excavator flying a gris flag that was either working on the Bobcat stadium parking lot or the new indoor. The gris fans thought it was hilarious, but my take is that the guy could never find a job doing construction work at DumB, so he had to come to MSU instead. Now, that's hilarious.

It’s actually hilarious. That is great rivalry stuff. Completely innocent and fun. We’d all be laughing it up if it was a Bobcat sticker that was in Missoula all last year. Which I’m guessing one is already there in the old one’s place.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 6:25 pmIt was just a bush league action showing that program's sense of entitlement and lack of class.bcats wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 5:10 pmI am curious if anyone has an answer as to why the trophy seems to have a griz emblem on the bottom. That could be a fun little new tradition. You win, you put your sticker on the bottomtdub wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 7:27 pmIt’s actually hilarious. That is great rivalry stuff. I agree. The kind of thing you should do in a rivalry.tdub wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 7:27 pmIt’s actually hilarious. That is great rivalry stuff. Completely innocent and fun. That’s the premise of the trophy, it will go back and forth to the winner for 100 years and whoever has won it more at that time gets it for good, I believe.

I don’t remember if I’ve told this story, but I was working at msu when the sculptor delivered the trophy to msu in 2001. I think I was one of the first 2 or 3 people to see the finished product.
We were still in the streak and I never would have guessed that we would possess the trophy for 12 of the first 24 years.
Crazy to think how far we’ve come.

Was the sculptor an elementary school kid working with play doh?wbtfg wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 10:52 amI don’t remember if I’ve told this story, but I was working at msu when the sculptor delivered the trophy to msu in 2001. I think I was one of the first 2 or 3 people to see the finished product.

There is more detail up close. Vat and Griz heads, claws. Weight should be 406 instead of 306. Need to add a plate on bottomBleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 11:41 amWas the sculptor an elementary school kid working with play doh?wbtfg wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 10:52 amI don’t remember if I’ve told this story, but I was working at msu when the sculptor delivered the trophy to msu in 2001. Re: Great Divide Trophy
I have never understood why it doesn’t weigh 406lbs. Sure it’d be HEAVY but it would be relative.tetoncat wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 11:47 amThere is more detail up close. Vat and Griz heads, claws.
