Cat-Griz spoilers

Post by TomCat88 » Tue Nov 19, 2024 7:08 pm

Griz in the role of spoiler, so I’d start a list of those games. Anyone have others?

93-MSU could’ve made playoffs but lost. (Also lost to EWU the week before). They were 7-2 going into EWU game.

97-didn’t spoil playoffs but spoiled snapping the streak.

02-MSU kinda put finishing touches on UM after they lost to EW the week before. UM wasn’t the same after winning title in 2001 and getting off to a 9-0 or 8-1 start.

03-MSU spoiled Hauck’s debut.

11-MSU was ranked #1.

12-MSU clinched first losing season and missed playoffs by UM in 20ish years.

17-MSU win knocked UM out of playoffs.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Didn't MSU knock UM out of the playoffs in 2018 as well?

Cats kept the gris from winning a share of the Big Sky title in 2019.

Yes, but that game was such a colossus that the spoiler part seems like a sidebar.

True and I think it took away home field through the semis.

1998 is another consequential game, it was for the outright Big Sky championship but the Griz won in Missoula in horrible weather if I'm remembering correctly.

You’re remembering that weather right. I don’t think MSU had a shot at the outright title though, did they?

They did unless Wikipedia is leading me astray.

I’ll be damned. I remember now that Northridge would’ve won it but lost that night to a bad team.
