Why do you all think Hastings threw that pick? He had a dude wide open in the back of the end zone.

Larison was the go to guy all night. When under pressure you go to that guy. Fortunately for us it was the wrong guy in this case.technoCat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:59 amBecause Davis had made like 20 flawless plays in a row where everything went their way and they were due to screw up...rfischer94 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:31 amThat's what I was thinking.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:30 amPressure. I don't know about flawless. I re-watched the two plays where pass interference was called and I don't see enough for that call to be made in the end zone and the one over on the sidelines has no replay, but watching it live I thought it was offensive PI without question and was stunned when it wasn't called, then when I watched the replay and heard Gregorak thinking the same thing and Ben talking about how livid Vigen was, I have still have my doubts there. I'm not taking anything away from UCD, because they fought their butts off, but they don't make it close without the first PI and it makes the second one irrelevant if it goes as a no call. You never know though, UCD might get a turnover right after that or a safety or ....??technoCat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:59 amBecause Davis had made like 20 flawless plays in a row where everything went their way and they were due to screw up...rfischer94 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:31 amThat's what I was thinking.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:30 amPressure. But you're right, everything had been going their way, and they were due to screw up at some point.

I watched the replay of the game again last night and I still don't understand why no one is talking about the Larison fumble right after the 4th and goal PI that wasn't. He fumbles the ball with a clear MSU recovery reaching for the goaline. It was called he was down by contact and Davis hurries up and runs a play quickly where they do score. Only a quick replay in between but he clearly fumbled and wasn't close to being down. MSU probably has to call a timeout to get the call reviewed but none of this happens without that TD.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 4:19 pmI don't know about flawless. That dog was so damn cool!!! I hope every college does that someday and then they have a tournament for them at the end of the year. LOL! UCD also had a cool dog race at halftime or between quarters. Fun stuff.GoCats18 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 1:35 amWow, no credit given to the dog that fetches the kickoff tee……Unbelievable, that takes talent.iaafan wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:33 pmIt was either the field judge or back judge that threw the flag. You can tell by Johnson’s and Vigen’s reactions that it was a bad call. Johnson is complaining before he even stands up.
The third replay of the first one on Powdrell shows that it was a bad call. There’s nothing about that play that is pass interference on him. Horrible call. Thankfully it didn’t change the outcome.
MSU was decidedly the better team. I can give ucd credit for its run defense but that’s it.

In the "I can't believe nobody is talking about this" category... there was a PI call against the Cats late that was completely bogus. Like, not even close.

One more to add, I just watched Tootell and Nuanez, Tootell commented on the play where it was 30 to 8 and UCD clearly fumbled trying to score that TD and the Cats covered. He said it was 100% a fumble... no review. That is just one in another long string of plays that nail the coffin. I don't get that.

BSC officiating has steadily gotten worse over the past 5 years. The main problem is the older guys are all retiring, and the options for younger guys are much more slim than they used to be. Officiating in every sport at all levels is suffering from a major shortage. There is currently an official in the BSC who did high school for 2 years, went to the right camps and has the right look, and is doing BSC games in year 3 of his officiating career. That's a problem. These guys get evaluated weekly, but the most they get are critiques and criticism. The BSC used to have the ability to suspend crews for huge mistakes or errors in rules applications, and now they're lucky to be able to suspend one guy at a time and still have enough bodies.catatac wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:28 pmOne more to add, I just watched Tootell and Nuanez, Tootell commented on the play where it was 30 to 8 and UCD clearly fumbled trying to score that TD and the Cats covered. When it comes to replay review, I have zero idea what's going on there. There's absolutely no consistency and it's anyone's guess what will and won't be reviewed.

2 years in MT and you can't even do a playoff game.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:38 pmBSC officiating has steadily gotten worse over the past 5 years. I also don't understand the reluctance to review plays. Maybe lack of camera angles so they don't bother.

You'd think there would be enough camera angles for Scripps games but they may only broadcast MSU and Missoula games. If that's the case then that's another downside to being in the BSC/FCS. Too many teams that don't have a fanbase so they put out a minimal broadcast which means there's no parity for video review across the league.tetoncat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 8:25 am2 years in MT and you can't even do a playoff game.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:38 pmBSC officiating has steadily gotten worse over the past 5 years. So I went back and watched my on demand game. The camera guy for the 20th time was lost and completely missed the PI call on the sideline that everyone is talking about. Does anyone have a link of that footage?

I did the same thing. Have heard this week that it definitely should have at least been reviewed. Looked like the ball came out into the endzone as he was prone to the ground with no body part down.bcats wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 4:37 pmI watched the replay of the game again last night and I still don't understand why no one is talking about the Larison fumble right after the 4th and goal PI that wasn't.
