In games like these I always imagine what everyone would say if it was SDSU playing PSU instead of the Cats. We'd all pick them by 30! If we consider ourselves in that top tier of FCS, there is no reason not to expect to run these guys off the field.
This right here.
There will be no surprises today and no repeat of Idaho last year. I believe that the team is firmly in the "one game at a time" mindset. They are ready for this and will win by three scores.

I agree but I also think its fine to predict a close game even when comparing to SDSU. Like I've said before, SDSU and NDSU don't wipe the floor with every bad MVFC team om the road. They've had some close ones during the same years they've won national titles. The most important thing to do is get the win. That's it. If we would've won the Idaho game last year, who the hell knows how the vibe of the team changes. I want to win big but persevering through a tight win where things go array has its merits too.

Definitely a common misconception those teams always destroy everyone inferior to them. Hell, SDSU beat DII Augustana 27-3 at home this year. NDSU should have lost to ETSU this year.

I have too many horror stories of road games where we were heavily favored. I think this will be a tough
game. Note their close loss to UCD. I think it will be close through the first half but we pull away late. 31-17
Kinda what I’m thinking…. I think Portland state is much better than their record suggests (also SHOULD have beat UC Davis). Their rushing defense is really bad though…. Which obviously will not help their cause…
The QB is a playmaker, I think they will score some points…. But I don’t see them stopping our offense, we should have no problem putting up 40+ points.
I agree. With the line currently at 23.5 points I'm betting the score will be closer than that. Especially if the Cats can get out to a 2 score lead in the 3rd quarter... then I'm guessing we just sit and grind the clock, ball control. That's what I'd do.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

I agree, a win is a win is a win. But utterly dominating a game, and not just with the score, gets into the heads of the next team on the schedule. Making them question themselves is
always a good thing.

Very easy to say this is a trap game. Their QB and offensive skill players are dangerous and they will get chunk plays on our defense. The environment is also like a scrimmage. However, PSU's defense is last or close to last in every statistical category...they are not good at all on that side of the ball. Offensively they want to gash you with the run and set up chunk pass plays very similar to what Tommy does for us but its a little less structured and Dante does A LOT of improvisation. Need the defense to just contain and limit the big play. Offensively we may average 10 yards a carry.
MSU - 49
Vikings of Portland - 17

To be clear I was never implying that the dakotas never have close games. I was talking strictly from a fans standpoint how we look at our own really good team differently than we look at other really good teams.
If we had a prediction thread and SDSU was playing PSU today, what do you think those spreads would look like? We’d all pick huge wins for SDSU.
Anyway we’re all watching this beat down now so the point is moot anyway.

I agree with you 100%. Along the same lines as other posters I was saying a win is a win. No national champion ever complained about those 2 games in the regular season that were close on the road that they should have won by more. We should absolutely expect to blow out teams like PSU though.

I was trying to find out how many times the Bobcats punted in the PSU game. I missed a portion of the game driving. What I did find out was the stats from PSU vs Boise State were very similar to those of the Bobcat game. The difference that jumped out to me was the Boise game was 54-14. I attribute that to home field advantage to Boise State. Side note Boise State is currently ranked 17th in the FBS. Keep up the good work Bobcats.
