Re: Cats @ Portland State Predictions
Easy to say it’s a trap game for Portland State too. They’re coming off an exciting road win and an emotionally draining loss in consecutive weeks.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 11:24 amVery easy to say this is a trap game. Their QB and offensive skill players are dangerous and they will get chunk plays on our defense. The environment is also like a scrimmage. However, PSU's defense is last or close to last in every statistical category...they are not good at all on that side of the ball. Offensively they want to gash you with the run and set up chunk pass plays very similar to what Tommy does for us but its a little less structured and Dante does A LOT of improvisation. Need the defense to just contain and limit the big play. Offensively we may average 10 yards a carry.

I'll be there rockin' a mullet, 40oz Olde English in a paper bag, and a cigarette dangling between my lips. Would join coachouert and wbtfg for a drink but they sound far too classy for my company.

Is anyone familiar with Ryan Krahe? Backup for Bryce. How did Cole Bullock absolutely plummet down the depth chart. Wow

Re: Cats @ Portland State Predictions
The loss of Danny U. will quite possibly be felt more in this game than any other remaining on our schedule, because of the running and scrambling ability of PSU's QB Chachere. We really need speed at LB and somebody who can run sideline to sideline and keep him from getting loose too often. I'm not sure what else PSU has, I think the key is containing Chachere.
With that in mind, plus this is a road game, this game will be alot closer than the Idaho game even though PSU isn't nearly as good as Idaho. Cats should pull away in the 2nd half but I think it will be close for 2 or 3 quarters.

Re: Cats @ Portland State Predictions
The defensive game plan will likely be similar to the New Mexico game, where the mobile QB is by far the biggest threat. Lots of safe pass rushing and minimal blitzing. Even without Danny U, the Cats D has plenty of speed, so it’ll all be about being pass rush disciplined and not give creases. So that’ll give PSU more time of possession as they’ll get some first downs but limited big plays. Only due to that is why MSU maybe doesn’t score as many points as they will against other teams. Just less total possessions.
Meanwhile the MSU offense will continue to do its thing with each opportunity. I’m not a score prediction kind of guy, so I’ll withhold that. As long as the Cats bring their own energy, they should win by a few scores.

I trust Bobby Daly's ability to build his depth chart. Would appear Bullock got beat out during Fall Camp.

The cats should handle these guys with a heavy dose of Oline dominance and punishing RB's.

Don't just look at PSU stats. They are skewed by their FBS beatdowns. They have played pretty well since then. Cats should move ball well but may give up some explosive plays. This is the type of QB many has said would give them fits. Good test to pass and keep improving

I predict there will be a 7:1 ratio of Cat fans to PSU fans. I also predict I drink three to four too many beers at the game and pay for it on the flight home on Sunday as is my tradition at Hillsboro.
