Crown Noise
The Idaho game seemed to be one of the only games I can remember that fans were loud on almost every down. 4th downs got really loud but we still didn’t see anyone jump. Maybe Idaho prepped extremely well but with two different QBs I’d imagine someone would jump.
Also found it funny in the MSU highlight video on social media that the announcer said Bobcat Stadium is louder than Autzen. Might be close but we need to be honest.
Did anyone hear what the official attendance was? In the student section the walkways and stairs were packed so I was guessing we would see an attendance record.

Re: Crown Noise
I wholeheartedly disagree Idaho never jumped. Their RT was early on 5 or 6 straight plays in the 3rd quarter. The drive where we had yhe pick on 4th that had offsetting penalties. He was a good second early on the second fourth down play.
Gregg Wilson's crew is one of the worst in the BSC, and they proved it last night.

It was actually Eck who said it in an interview earlier in the week.94VegasCat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 11:19 pmThe TV guys said that the Idaho players said MSU was louder than Autzen.Monymony wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 11:11 pmThe Idaho game seemed to be one of the only games I can remember that fans were loud on almost every down. 4th downs got really loud but we still didn’t see anyone jump. I didn’t get the exact number but the announcers said it was over 22K. Great turnout for the first half!

Official attendance was 21,907 according to the ESPN box score. The record attendance was 22,037 for Cat/Griz in 2022 so they came close to breaking it!Monymony wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 11:11 pmThe Idaho game seemed to be one of the only games I can remember that fans were loud on almost every down. 4th downs got really loud but we still didn’t see anyone jump. Homecoming last week was announced at 22,007 which they noted was 3rd highest all time. Really good attendance numbers this year!MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 6:02 amOfficial attendance was 21,907 according to the ESPN box score. Not sure pointing to the number of false starts paints an accurate picture of crowd noise. Even Eck said as much when he talked about the entire experience of coming to Bozeman from the locker rooms to the run out, etc. A more complete understanding would be to look at the overall Idaho offensive performance, which was abysmal. The noise contributes to poor communication and an inability of the QBs to read, react, and generally make quick and accurate decisions. Those two freshman QBs looked like they couldn't diagnose even a simple elementary math problem most of the night. WRs dropping easy balls they would normally catch in their sleep can be attributed to the noisy and chaotic environment. It's just plain tough for the other guys even if they aren't jumping off sides.Monymony wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 11:11 pmThe Idaho game seemed to be one of the only games I can remember that fans were loud on almost every down. 4th downs got really loud but we still didn’t see anyone jump. Re: Crown Noise
It can also lead to the opposite effect of false starts. Teams going mostly/purely silent means the oline is also waiting on the ball to move. They have lost that critical split second advantage over the dline of knowing when the play will start.ClowderUp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 10:56 amNot sure pointing to the number of false starts paints an accurate picture of crowd noise. It also makes it difficult to change the play, teams like UI looked like there was no changes made at the line.kmax wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 1:20 pmIt can also lead to the opposite effect of false starts. Re: Crown Noise
Not only did their right tackle move early several times, he was lined up too deep on pass plays....
Idaho should be one of those teams that can deal with crowd noise. They can pump a lot of crowd noise in that dome during practice.

Probably won’t be very loud when l’m at Autzen next year for the Bobcat game, too.94VegasCat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 11:19 pmThe TV guys said that the Idaho players said MSU was louder than Autzen.Monymony wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 11:11 pmThe Idaho game seemed to be one of the only games I can remember that fans were loud on almost every down. 4th downs got really loud but we still didn’t see anyone jump. Crowd there has never really been too pumped up for FCS games. Even in the “close” Idaho game, Ducks had yard advantage of 490-220 and TOP of 39-21 minutes so there weren’t a lot of opportunities to get nuts in a game that should have been a much bigger win.

It was the noise made when the Idaho player committed targeting by leading with the CROWN of his helmet.
