Re: Cats @ Idaho State Predictions
If MSU is playing "sloppy" then what will happen when we don't?
Besides the first half at UNM I haven't thought we've played particularly sloppy, a few boneheaded penalties here and there though.
ISU will move the ball and score more points against our first stringers (who by my count have only given up 2 or 3 touchdowns back to the 2nd half of the UNM game), but I don't think we'll have any problem outscoring them by a few touchdowns.

Cats travel with less players so we won't see many 3rd or 4th stringers. 1st string continues dominance on defense.

The 6'6 kid last week and Wysong from UNM were both strong. Cats have tackled better after first week. Dink and dunk passes won't beat them, and D Lime pressure hasn't offered many deep throws.

Cats 27
Bengals 13
I like our defense and I think they flex their muscles this weekend. Defense wins road games. Lets go!

I predict we win comfortably and everyone is back to saying how weak our schedule is and how we haven't played anybody by Monday... ;-p

You can use your own word for it. I’m not sure sloppy is the right word but three holding calls in the first quarter and a blocked and missed FG vs UT, three plays blown up vs Mercyhurst in first half for -17 and a fumble return TD, two fumble return TDs and four(?) pass interferences vs UNM. I don’t think that’s not whatever the word is that you’re going to use. How many top ten teams in any division have had that kind of “insert your word” this year?CelticCat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 10:09 amIf MSU is playing "sloppy" then what will happen when we don't?

Re: Cats @ Idaho State Predictions
MSU is the 3rd least penalized team in the Big Sky. 3 of the 4 fumbles were QBs not having good awareness, which is certainly an issue, but to have THREE of those returned for a touchdown is just bad luck and timing. Also 6 of MSU's 18 total penalties on the year were against UNM, so just 12 in the next 3 games. And holding penalties, well we had a few guys making their first start and everyone playing a new position, it's gotten much better.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 3:19 pmYou can use your own word for it. By the way Idaho is dead last in the conference in penalties if that is your definition of sloppy.

Road Big Sky games are very unpredictable. I think this is a scary one ala NAU two years ago. 'Cats score twice late. 31-21.

Re: Cats @ Idaho State Predictions
What games are you watching? You just described a sloppy team. MSU should’ve been up 21-0 in the first quarter against Utah T if it wasn’t for sloppy play. 21-10 vs New Mexico if not for sloppy play. 21-0 vs mercyworst except for the slop.CelticCat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 4:05 pmMSU is the 3rd least penalized team in the Big Sky. 3 of the 4 fumbles were QBs not having good awareness, which is certainly an issue, but to have THREE of those returned for a touchdown is just bad luck and timing. Who do we think they are? I see a lot of varying opinions in this thread. Not much consensus.Camo_Cat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 8:28 amI hate predicting scores; I'm never even close and I definitely don't want to be the jinx (yes - I'm that guy; haven't changed my underwear since the opening win against UNM). All I will say is that if MSU is the team we think they are, this is the first real chance to prove their legitimacy. Go handle a decent team on the road in a place where we have won in the past but have had to fight hard to do so. Here's to hoping our boys in Blue & Gold put the paper tigers away early.

Scottre Humphrey lowers his head and shoulder and absolutely trucks some defensive back trying to be a big shot. Doug Fullerton comes out of retirement to issue a one-game suspension to Humphrey for targeting. Jot that down.
