A lot of love for Cats, but I always remind myself that this is still a "play-up" game for us. There is a reason that UNM plays on a level higher than us, and that means more players on scholarship and faster, bigger, stronger athletes. And more of them.

There's other factors that do not play into our favor. The heat at kick-off will be staggering. Forecast currently calls for 91 degrees and while that may not seem hot, their heat is a much different heat than what we have in Montana. It's a crushing, hard-to-breathe heat.

They're a team full of transfers with a brand new coach. We literally have no tape on them. Yet they will know fairly well what schemes we want to run. And then throw in our injuries. Some pretty significant guys out for this one.

I just don't think we waltz into Albuquerque and kick ass like everyone thinks. Yeah, they're a bottom dwelling FBS squad for sure, but Coach Mendenhall will have his squad fired up. No way are we a 10.5 point favorite. I would rather be the underdog; our boys always play better with a chip on their shoulder.

I just dont understand why the heat would affect MSU more than UNM. It will be a dry heat just like Bozeman. I dont think heat will favor one team over the other.

It's really not a dry heat like ours. Their humidity climbs into the 40-50% range. And while that doesn't seem significant, it's double the humidity what we get in Montana. I was in Texas last week for work - temps were in the mid 90s with 50% humidity. I can personally vouch that feels much hotter and intense than heat in MT.

And their big guys up front are BIG. I know big does not translate into better, but they have some horses up front.

You do want to register, too. They charge more at the door but the biggest deal is that sometimes they cap off how many people can go to those. I wish they communicated that a little better. We went to Brookings last year and wanted to join the tailgate even though we didn't have reservations. The people right in front of us in line were the last ones in and they turned us away because they had so many walk-ups. And I get it...they don't want to run out of food for the people who pre-registered. They probably took one look at me and thought I'd eat and drink way too much!

Reading thru their roster I see all of their OL are huge! From 6-3 to 6-7 and almost all over 300#. Many are over 320. Most of them seem to be from FCS, CC, or squad members from FBS teams. Only one QB (Devon Dampier) with starting experience and is 5-10, 198 dual threat. Only two others were on the team last years with not much experience. A few more are transfers from JC or CC. Strength seems to be on DL and secondary. Experienced WR are 6-0, 6-2, 190's; others are 5-10, 5-11 170's -180's. RB with most experience seems to be Andrew Henry, 5-10, 200; and Eli Sanders a 5-11, 194 transfer from Iowa St.
