Waded is one of the greatest.
One of my favorite stories...
When I was still living Bozeman, I frequently traveled for work, which usually required a pre-dawn drive to the airport. One morning, I'm turning on to the Frontage Road near 19th, and in my rearview, is a set of headlights and they are on me. Quick. As any self-respecting speed demon does, I wood it. And still, the headlight persists behind me. In short order, both vehicles are wicked up to near-triple-digit speeds.
Mercifully, any encounters we avoided with the local constabulary. And as I throw out the anchors and ease my way into the parking lot - this was pre-round-about and the dedicated interstate exit, my you, I see a flash of the driver on my six. Briefly, I see horn-rimmed glasses peering over the steering wheel. And I think nothing of it.
It wasn't until I've parked and I'm hoofing it into the terminal, that I see a fast-walking Waded, blazing her way into the airport. Turns out, she was on the same, pre-dawn flight as me. And just as likely, less than enthused about the o-dark-thirty wake-up and drive to the airport.
I gained a whole new level of respect for her that day. Not only was her fiercely competitive spirit on display in the wee hours of that morning, but I also learned she doesn't eff around when driving. And that I can respect.
griz fans; keeping it classy and gracious in winning since ... well, never.
