I usually don't get into smack talk, but I couldn't resist this from the Tribune:
"I'm a little surprised that so many people are willing to say the Grizzlies are great," said the seventh-year MSU head coach, holding court before a group of reporters. "I mean, every year they start off in the top five of the United States of America. And they're coming off a loss to Eastern (Washington) at home and a loss to us here. I think it's just a knee-jerk reaction. You've got to pick somebody to win the title, so well, pick the Grizzlies. ... We'll wait and see. It's good for them to be picked so high and it's great money in the bank that's been invested all those years they've been successful. Yet I don't know how realistic it is for everybody to just slap themselves on the back and say the Grizzlies are that great. Portland State is awesome ... and I think Weber State is very, very good."
Clearly, Kramer believes his club will again be in the championship hunt. "There's a lot of teams to choose from when you want to pick a preseason favorite — which we all forget one minute after the opening kickoff on Sept. 2," he said.
That's all well and good. Really I have no problem with Kramer not thinking the Griz are the best in the Big Sky, and clearly Weber State and Portland State look to have good teams, as well as Idaho State could be a pick for number 1. But how then does Kramer reconcile this:
2006 Big Sky Preseason Coaches Poll
1. Montana ( 8 ) ... 64
2. Eastern Washington ... 44
3. Montana State ... 43
4. Portland State ... 42
5. Idaho State (1) ... 40
6. Weber State ... 36
7. Northern Arizona ... 24
8. Sacramento State ... 21
9. Northern Colorado ... 10
Coach you picked Montana first as well? what about Weber State or Portland State? Did you just have a knee jerk reaction?

I think he already clarified that "You've got to pick somebody to win the title, so well, pick the Grizzlies." He voted based on the fact that they are good and past performance. He isn't saying they aren't going to win the title, he just says it won't be easy with other tough teams.

Usually SID's cast the vote, not the actual coach
if you're keeping score, France gave us Burgundy wine, cigarettes, berets, B.O., brie and the Napoleon complex-Bill Simmons

I think Krames just said what we all think. The Griz have a lot of tradition, but they might get picked to win based strictly on that tradition. They lost a lot of starters, have a new quarterback, new wide recievers, and unfortunatley just lost a very good running back. It doesn't look like a hole in one to me.
Just trying to be objective.

If the rules don't allow you to vote for who you believe is the best team, you might as well pimp your rival.

I too have heard that coaches do not actually cast a vote. He may have a split personality, this thread provides no evidence supporting that.
Really does not matter, the Griz have order 650 extra coates, they beat Iowa despite thinking their fans were snobs

, and are right now winning the NC game by 45 points, everyone maroon has already purchased airline tickets

. Heck, I thought the season was already over and they won it all

. Ohh sorry, I'm back to reality now, I'm not on egriz, and I am sober.

I assume that since they are griz mittens that they come with 'idiot strings' attached.
