Reading the article about River Warren, I wouldn't be surprised if he never steps foot on MSU.
Didn't it say that he would be enrolling this fall and then joining the team in the spring? If he enrolls next month, I think it's a pretty good likelihood he will stay committed.
"Warren plans to gray shirt this year, spend the fall training and enroll at MSU in January."
Is it gray shirting if you aren't enrolled in college during the season?

As far as him actually being on the team in 2025, I wouldn't hold my breath. Maybe he's grown up a lot recently but he seemed to have a big ego prior to finding that he had burned his bridges with the G5 programs. He's saying all the right things now so we'll see. Sounds like a good prospect but may not stay long if he's successful.
Just some unsolicited advice: don't judge too soon. One thing I've learned over the years is that I have almost no idea what any of the players or coaches are like based on their actions on or off the field, their comments, or what I hear from others. Players/coaches that seem like good guys, are actually bad guys and vice versa. I just err to the side of caution and assume they're all good guys until I find out more about them, which rarely happens anyway, so I just don't really give it all that much thought. I just know that you can be disappointed if you think someone's cool and they're not or you can feel awful stupid if you think someone is a bad guy and then it turns out you were completely wrong.

Humility and acknowledging your mistakes is a good thing. I think this young man will be just fine.
No doubt he'll be just fine - he appears to be very talented - but I too share the sentiment of posters who are skeptical and that his talents will never be on display in a Bobcat uniform. Hopefully we all eat crow, but I won't hold my breath...

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Your unsolicited advice is also unwarranted. Not every post that isn't 100% glowing about a recruit is 100% negative. The gold colored glasses crew needs to relax a little. All I said is he fell into our laps for a reason and don't be surprised if it doesn't go as planned. Hopefully he's turned the corner and will appreciate what he has instead of what might have been but there's a non-zero chance that isn't the case, especially in the current college football environment. He looks like he has the potential to do great things here if he signs and stays.

I am with Tom on this one. It is not gold colored glasses to just remind people that you don’t know this kid at all so making judgements about him before even stepping on campus is ridiculous. Can’t you just be happy he liked the program enough to commit?

I’m telling you (everyone for that matter) that whatever you think you may know about a player is kind of a waste of your own time because you/anyone can be way off on that judgment good or bad. I learned that the hard way so I’m just leaving that here for everyone.

Want to make sure I'm clear...I'm not passing any judgement on the kid saying I will be surprised if he ever steps foot on MSU campus. Sounds like he is super talented, sounds like he wants opportunitieS, and is willing to play hardball. Pair that with the new nature of college athletics...and I will be surprised. I will hold NO ill will if the kid does indeed pull his commitment. Although I hate college athletes jumping ship constantly, I also appreciate free markets.

His tweet(or excrement? that's what they're called now right?), didn't say committed x1000, so I think we're safe.

A big ego? Because he wanted to play at a big program? That’s the norm in college football.

Sounds like the kid got some offers from the types of FBS schools that fans here always say we don't want to join since they play for a spot in a low-level bowl game instead of a national championship. He held out for a bigger offer, didn't get it, but then found a spot anyway at a school he thinks is a good fit for him. I don't see what the big deal is here.

Welcome aboard River, and don’t worry, this trainwreck of a thread isn’t indicative of how the larger fanbase acts and thinks.

I think he’s been training in California and will be up here in January.

Yeah sometimes it's worse. Haha Thankfuly it's rarely worse.

The important thing for any and all student athletes is that MSU is a great school and all coaching staff and supporting staff are top notch and the student athletes you'll be with are some of the best people you could ever ask to have as teammates. That's just how it's done here.

PS No student athlete should ever look at any fan board, that's probably good advice for parents as well or at least be prepared with real thick skin Mom and Dad.

I mean, the school to the west always claimed they had a river. Now MSU actually has a River. The difference is MSU’s River will help win games.

Chance also reminds me of Prukop!

Raw version, but still has a high ceiling.

I bet we get a portal QB to push these guys and somebody will emerge to take the reins.

I think Warren has a strong chance of starting if they don’t bring in a transfer.

I also think if Wilson doesn’t get the starter job, he’ll transfer. Reed likely transfers. They kinda need to bring in a transfer, imo.
