Rocky Lencioni East Offensive MVP at Shrine Game
Really good crowd last night at Dayliss. West wins 48-20 and had two INT returns for TD in the last minute to make it a larger margin.
Kash Goicoechea - MVP
- 2 long rushing TDs and simply ran away from the defense. Next Junior Bergen for the Gris? Tough runner as well.
Isaac Keim - West Defensive MVP
- dominated the LOS and still can add size over the next few years. Gris got two excellent Montana players from Grady and Glacier.
Cohen Kastelitz - West Offensive MVP
- got separation all game, had a fast start catching the ball, and an insane open field block on a long run by Sandburg that had the crowd cheering. Talking to him after the game, he was more proud of that block than any catch. Total pancake 30 yards down the field.
Going to Montana Tech and wanted to be a Bobcat. Also, I’m biased about him.
Rocky Lencioni - East Offensive MVP
- put 25-30 pounds on him and he’s going to be a good one for the Bobcats as a TE. Caught a long TD pass as well and just looked bigger than most. Plays with attitude, too. Recent tradition of great Bobcat TEs is in good hands with him.
???? East Defensive MVP
- didn’t catch it but #1 Brisbin Reiter from Havre was all over the field and had a forced fumble and recovery. Going to play here in Billings at Rocky.
Really fun game and there were even a few skirmishes on the field during it. Stood next to Daniel Sirmon from Sentinel after the game and he’s absolutely huge. Wouldn’t be surprised if he plays early for the Gris and the West had him running the ball in the red zone.
One possible knee injury to an OL from the East but I couldn’t catch the number.
A great way with a bunch of family to whet the football appetite until we start for real in just over two months.

Yes, and Dethman shined on a few plays - IMO he's going to contribute for the Bobcats early. Stud.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

I don’t know where Christiansen is going to play for the Bobcats? What’s he recruited as? The other West QB, Kraft, is playing LB at Sac State and he started at QB over Christiansen.

From a Chronicle story when he signed.
"Christiansen starred at quarterback and safety at Dillon, but his position at the next level toggled between defensive back and wide receiver as he talked with MSU head coach Brent Vigen during the recruiting process. Christiansen and his future coaches decided WR made the most sense."

Thanks AF! Do you remember what the initial plan is for Dethman? I think they maybe projected him at linebacker. He's 6' 4" and I bet he ends up with a Troy Andersen like build.AFCAT wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 2:22 pmFrom a Chronicle story when he signed.

His signing day announcement indicates LB and a Chronicle story indicates that position as well. um wanted him to play Safety.catatac wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 3:23 pmThanks AF! "Dethman has no qualms about ditching QB and safety for a full-time linebacker role at MSU.
“Talking to Coach Daly, he said this is where I’m going to thrive at the next level,” Dethman said. “I’m putting my trust in him, and I fully believe what they have going in Bozeman is right.”

He ran the ball well. I can see WR as making sense. His passing was good but I didn’t see a Big Sky QB, which he apparently doesn’t need to be.AFCAT wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 2:22 pmFrom a Chronicle story when he signed.

No, I don’t think 247 knows for sure.

Not that I know of, but it does say "non-FBS", so I'm sure there are some years that UNCU doesn't out-recruit some of the D-II schools in the state.

Re: Rocky Lencioni East Offensive MVP at Shrine Game
Montana Tech had 13 recruits in the game and Rocky had 8 I believe, so they have more Shrine Game players than both UM and MSU.

Ah, I get it now. Yes, that is probably true. Colorado has a rich DII history.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 8:31 amNot that I know of, but it does say "non-FBS", so I'm sure there are some years that UNCU doesn't out-recruit some of the D-II schools in the state.

UNC won a couple national championships in football when they were D2. Pueblo, Adams, Mesa...there's a bunch of them.coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 8:49 amColorado School of Mines is a top D2 team.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 8:38 amAh, I get it now. The RMAC where all those DII Colorado schools play is one of the most competitive in the country. It’s amazing once perennial basement dweller Colorado School of Mines is now a top contender given the ridged academic standards of that mining engineering school. Their alumni invested in the infrastructure of the program building a new stadium with attached weight room, locker room and training room years before the BAC was built. They don’t allow kegs in the stands anymore and their band is no longer allowed yell obscene chants in unison tho so it’s not all good. Colorado’s Ralphie has nothing on “Blaster,” their live burro mascot. Oh, and the students aren’t allowed to purchase dynamite anymore.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 11:38 amUNC won a couple national championships in football when they were D2. The Mines-DU rivalry is a rabbit hole all football fans should dive into during the offseason.RICO CAT wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 4:01 pmThe RMAC where all those DII Colorado schools play is one of the most competitive in the country.
