We canceled NDSU to go to SMU...and their fans felt the same way.

It's not common to find a link for facility rental inquiries on a D1 football stadium's school website, but it's there at Mercyhurst University.coloradocat wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 12:45 pmIt makes UNCU's stadium look respectable.MSUBRONCO wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 12:29 pmAnyone else curious about the stadium https://hurstathletics.com/facilities/saxon-stadium/2

Re: Stephen F Austin Game Cancelled
They don't have a very difficult schedule this year. No Idaho or Sac. Only semi tough road games are UND and maybe EWU.
Semi-tough home games are Western Carolina, Weber, Cal Davis, and NAU, but who knows how good those teams will be. They could be 11-0 when they come to Bozeman. We have to win every game!

Or pay for Mercyhurst's trip to Bozeman. I'm sure we're paying them to come.
Last year I felt like there was one interesting home game, and that was the playoff game against NDSU. This year might be similar, with the obvious exception of Cat-griz.

I think there are several interesting home games this year. I like the storyline with Maine, how we now have Rohan Jones previously with Maine; will be fun to see what he does against his former team. Then we have home games against two BSC title contenders, Idaho and Sac State. We should have won that game last year against Idaho; a missed FG and we would have gone to OT with all the momentum. We owe them a loss. Sac State has a tough schedule leading up to our game; they could be a little beat up, but our games against the Hornets over the last several years have been shoot-outs. And of course, the dark pinkies. I agree there is not much interest in the Mercyhurst and UNC games...kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 8:57 amOr pay for Mercyhurst's trip to Bozeman. You're right, I forgot about Sac St. I did remember Idaho, and I'm sure they'll be good despite losing so much to the portal/graduation. Honestly thanks for the reminder--last season was pretty boring at home and I was letting the negativity take overCamo_Cat wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 9:06 amI think there are several interesting home games this year. Does anyone know how much $$ SFA has to pay us? That's the only positive here is that it's free money..... and I would hope it's a lot. If they went into this contract without a hefty buyout clause, especially so close to kickoff, SHAME on us.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 8:57 amOr pay for Mercyhurst's trip to Bozeman. I'd guess nothing or not very much since this was a home and home series, it can't be easy to find teams willing to come to Bozeman in the first place without also inserting large buyout clauses into the contracts.catatac wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 5:01 pmDoes anyone know how much $$ SFA has to pay us? Yeah, that’s pretty standard in a scheduling contract. Probably doesn’t amount to much, but we will get paid.Justwinbaby wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 7:07 pmOur fan base is delusional. Pretty standard stuff to include in a contract like this I'm sure. It's probably not much, especially since they cancelled both legs of the home-and-home, but hopefully enough to cover whatever its costing us to get Mercyhust to give up a bye to come get bodied.Justwinbaby wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 7:07 pmOur fan base is delusional. In that instance, MSU had to pay because the game was the second leg of a home-and-home. This game with SFA is the first game and, assuming MSU isn't going to go to SFA now, there isn't going to be much of a buyout. If MSU is still going to SFA, then there would be one, but I doubt SFA would cancel if it had to do a large buyout.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 7:51 pmYeah, that’s pretty standard in a scheduling contract. Re: Stephen F Austin Game Cancelled
I understand that logic, but it seems like a school could and should throw in a clause to any contract for late cancellation. Schedules might be printed, game sponsors might back out, MSU might not have been able to find a replacement game, etc. I'm not saying any of these happened in this instance, but if I'm making that arrangement, I'd want to have some assurances that I could recoup some major expenses within a reasonable time frame. IF MSU had a sponsor back out because they wanted to sponsor the SFA game, or IF schedules had been printed, or IF a replacement game couldn't be found, MSU could be out hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more. Maybe the end of May is that date, if there is one. I think this is working out as well as could be expected, but just the sheer inconvenience should warrant something.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 11:51 amIn that instance, MSU had to pay because the game was the second leg of a home-and-home. I don't think SFA had a choice. The Southland had to redo the conference schedule ASAP, and SFA is at McNeese that weekend now.
