If that is what was meant by “he defected” then I understand the point being made.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 8:35 pmHe’s meaning it as in, he defected from the state of Montana.msutrackfan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 8:23 pmIf this reference is the Henry Sellards of Glacier, according to his X account, he committed to NDSU on August 1, 2023. I don’t believe he defected to NDSU but has always been committed there (unless I missed another X post, which is possible.)Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 11:50 pmTrue enough but I had hopes that the numerous O linemen from MSU that were recognized as grading out among the very best in the nation this year might sway him to reconsider and choose MSU. It's not the first nor will it be the last time I have unrealistic hopes regarding recruits. I know we have good to great ones but like every coach since the beginning of time I want the ones that are even better.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 5:36 pmNot surprising at all in my opinion. NDSU has a storied OL development program over the past decade. Also, NDSU has been reaching out to Montana kids every year since I've been tracking the in-state recruiting and kids have been taking visits so eventually one is going to commit. Gabe Sulser was deciding between NDSU, MSU, and UM back in the day as well. Sure, Fargo isn't Bozeman or Missoula...but maybe kids want something different. Nothing wrong with that.catatac wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 5:30 pmThe Glacier kid defecting to NDSU baffles me. I'm assuming either he has ties there, or they are giving him significantly more money than MSU or UM can afford. You grow in in the Flathead and then decide to move to Fargo rather than Bozeman or Missoula. Ouch.

Didn't he commit to Montana Tech? Maybe we can get him from them.

Interesting. I missed that. The commitment tweet the article mentions is gone from his twitter profile.RickRund wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 10:39 amIt is behind a pay window, but https://406mtsports.com/high-school/foo ... 0cda8.html

I guess if we offered after "he committed", we must feel he isn't totally committed to Tech.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 10:57 amInteresting. I missed that. Yeah Matt will likely go down as the highest recruited Montana kid...ever. As a sophomore, he lines up at wildcat QB, lines up in-line as a traditional TE, plays the H-back role well, and also lines up on the outside and beats corners. All at around 240. Again...as a sophomore.

Sounds like a former MSU QB that came from Dillon. What does Ludwig run in the 40? Did his dad play college football?VimSince03 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 9:59 amYeah Matt will likely go down as the highest recruited Montana kid...ever. I know it was a bit before the national recruiting scene became as prevalent as it is now, but Mark Anderson from Lewistown has to be up there in the conversation. He was reportedly offered by Nebraska, Florida State, and a bunch of other huge programs before going to Stanford on a full-ride. He was a monster.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 9:59 amYeah Matt will likely go down as the highest recruited Montana kid...ever. You could be right that Ludwig will be the highest recruited Montana kid - but Matt Miller, Ryan Leaf, and Brock Osweiler were all up there. Not sure it is a quantifiable metric, but if he ends up mentioned with a group like that, that's pretty good.

Played against him in high school my sophomore season his senior year.
