Ford for big sky mvp

Post by mslacatfan » Fri Feb 02, 2024 1:14 pm

Big sky mvp in my opinion…. And defensive poty probably as well.

I think you would be hard pressed to find a player more valuable to their teams success. Cats are winning and he is putting up the numbers as well.

Thoughts?

Random note- I would be curious to see the big sky top 10 record list for most steals in a season? I wonder if he is getting close?

Switching that link to season and it looks like he is currently tied for 35th with 68. 14 more to crack the top 10. #1 with 130 steals  is insane.

Now can we get someone from Elias Sports to figure out the record for rebounds in a season by a guys 6' and under?

A few weeks ago I'd have said that Dillon Jones was a 100% lock to get Big Sky MVP this season...now I'd say he's still heavily favored but maybe with a 95% chance now given how well Ford is playing. If Weber continues to struggle and if MSU can go on the road and get a couple wins against the other top teams (EWU, UM, UNC) in the second half of their schedule then Ford's chances will look even better.

At this point in the season it’s probably a 3 man race between Dillon Jones, Robert Ford, and Saint Thomas for UNC. Rob does the most for his team out of the 3 but as we know MVP can be more of a popularity contest than a true MVP

Seems like Saint Thomas wins player of the week every week.

Chris Conway and Ray Willis both Top 20 all-time seasons for steals in 1987-88. I was in HS watching that backcourt plus @Domako .

Chris Childs/Boise State beat them in Bozeman 63-61 for the Big Sky championship.

Seattle to Billings to Missoula to Bozeman to Portland to Billings

He’s definitely deserving of MVP. Honestly, if you gave me the choice of Darius Brown or Robert Ford, I’d take Ford. Robert has absolutely flourished this year. I’m hoping Goracke will get out of his funk and Lecholot will keep gaining confidence. If that happens this team will be a tough out in Boise.

Was listening to Varsity app... Right before halftime Ford makes an unbelievable shot to pull us ahead by one. They raved about it.
