The Cats just offered a UW linebacker a couple of days ago. I know they aren’t done and probably won’t be until June or July.

It's ridiculous it has to even be stated we aren't done. It's January 16th! Check back in a month from now...then check back in end of May.

Re: Off-season Portal additions/losses
Isn't there still a Feb signing period for HS kids, and then portal in spring. I think spring when players realize where they are on depth chart leads to more FBS transfers of good players, might be 3rd on depth chart or a backup who wants to start.seataccat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 8:46 pmI don't think it's sarcasm at all. We seem to have picked up a couple needed players to replace the portal losses. Some great players will emerge after the frenzy that has just happened and we will probably have a couple roster spots to offer some best available athletes. I too think it's a smart strategy.

Re: Off-season Portal additions/losses
I was being sarcastic because all I have heard about the last three days is how incredible the Griz portal commits are and how they are clearly winning this battle. They lost a decent amount of players from a team that played a pretty easy schedule, basically made it to Frisco with home field advantage and special teams scoring. I know our staff is looking and not just taking anyone, they know where we need the most help.

One can only hope Coach Vigen is in that slum trying to convince a few of these kids they should bring their abilities to MSU. Looks like not only can't that school keep decent coaches, they can't keep decent players. Back to participation status. (Should have never been in the last four team playoff and it'll be many years until they make the 12 team playoff).

Can it be and/both? The Griz are filling gaps to remain competitive AND the Cats can be choosy because they have depth.
Not to mention....Griz schedule is even easier next season.

Man, UWs QB room will certainly look different next season with four QB portal losses and Penix gone too.

Maybe, but they'll have some challenges. Unfortunately for them, that last game will probably decide it all and they have to come to Bozeman.WetBreeches wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 10:02 amCan it be and/both? Dude, what is your problem? They clearly showed they belonged. Beat Texas, who is now part of your revered SEC. I don't understand youCat Grad wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 6:48 amOne can only hope Coach Vigen is in that slum trying to convince a few of these kids they should bring their abilities to MSU. This sucks. Wonder if his brother stays? Another player that I felt like we could have used in other ways and don’t blame him for leaving. Best of luck!!!

After being thrown down the depth chart at RB, can't tell me there isn't a gifted LB within his skillset. Best of luck to him.

Re: Off-season Portal additions/losses
Odd thing was his brother was playing special teams more than he was last year. Garrett did graduate so I think he just wants a change of scenery with an opportunity to compete at RB somewhere. Current RB room depth chart:
Julius Davis (Sr.)
Scottre Humphrey (So.)
Jared White (RSo.)
Elijah Elliot (Sr.)
Adam Jones (RFr.)
Colson Coon (RFr.)
Unterrio Latin-Henley (Fr.)

Didn't remember he had graduated. Bummer, but I get it. Pretty full room.

At 6'0", 190 lbs, he probably would have needed to bulk up to play LB too. Lot of work learning the position amd bulking up.tetoncat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 11:47 amBut he would have to want to do that.
