Hein and Dykstra are both out due to illness, shouldn't be an extended absence for either.
Philip will be back this month. But her game conditioning will take time.

Dykstra will be back..hopefully by Cat-Griz.

Those are only two of the five that will return this season.

That is reason both red shirts were pulled.

Damn, that sucks. I misread a comment on the NAU game thread so will edit my earlier response. Cats lost 58-53 at UNC, they went on a 9-0 run go go up by two late but then UNC scored the last 7 points.

Poor Lindsay Hein. She was just starting to get some quality minutes.

I don't know if a healthy Bobcat team beats NAU the other night but a healthy Bobcat team would've beat the Bears today. Of course no-one ever wants to have so many players out with injury and health problems but given the choice, early in the season has to be one of the better times to be going through this. As others have mentioned with so many players out coach Binford's plans of red shirting 2 freshman players has gone up in smoke which really sucks. Honestly though Johnson was ready to play and by the end of conference season she should be a very strong bench player so at least there's that.

What about Drea Brumfield? I haven't heard a word on her in a long time.

Did Brooke Berry play at all today? I didn’t get to watch much of the game, but the part I did watch, I didn’t notice her in the game.

Brooke had 5 min on the court.

Only 8 ladies played.

The starters played all of Q4 with no substitution.

Drea has been injured too. I don’t know her prognosis….I’ve at least seen her sitting with team during home games but not suited up to play.

Brooke got her first start today, but picked up two fouls pretty quickly.

She was definitely starting to show that she could be a force — she’s a good ball player and not just a tall object.

It was great news that KJ Limardo seemed to be back at full throttle today. She was a real problem for the Bears — causing turnovers and then taking the ball coast to coast. She was really flying.

The bad news — we continued to give up three-point baskets at an alarming rate. Once again a team’s best shooter burned us for what, at least 5 threes? And if I never see another scoop shot I’ll be fine with that.

I really thought they were going to win this one, despite such a limited number of players. I’m thinking Egan did not play today, which makes me think maybe illness? She’s certainly been playing well enough to give somebody a few minutes of rest. We have 15 players on the roster, more than most years. With only 8 able to go, that’s 7 down.

Berry got her first start Thursday night against NAU. She did not start against No. Colorado, Ella Johnson did. Berry road the pine the entire second half as Binford went all in with Limardo & MadJackHall.

Lindsey Hein is out of the season. Such a blow-she was key in helping to make up for the loss of Lexi Deden.

Well that's just terrible news about Hein. The article didn't say yes or no about a surgery, does anyone here know if this requires surgery?
If Johnson hadn't put her red shirt on the shelf and started playing already this news would've made that happen for sure.

Early on I was looking at this team fighting their way into 3rd or 4th at worst by the end of conference play but now I'm wondering if they can keep from going lower than 5th. Binford and her surviving players have a tough road ahead of them.

It's been awhile since the Lady Bobcats have lost to the Lady Griz at home but we are definitely the underdog on Saturday I'm afraid.

Sorry to hear about your injuries; I know the LG have had a number of them as well: Donarski, Greenslade, Wacker, Libby Stump & Burton-Oliver, etc. I'd much rather defeat a team when they're 100 % healthy than otherwise. Hope everyone recovers over there as I'd hate to see someone's promising career ended by injury.
As said before, I wouldn't mind it at all if the Bobcats win all their games, as long as they don't defeat the Griz, that is.

A press release from Coach Bin:

Binford also announced on Tuesday that guard Dylan Philip and forward Drea Brumfield have been officially ruled out for the season due to injuries. Philip, from Ellensburg, Wash., has not played this season, while Brumfield, who transferred in the offseason from Pepperdine, saw action in four games, averaging 5.5 minutes of play.“Dylan and Drea are big pieces of the puzzle and we have missed their presence on the court,” Binford said. “They have been amazing teammates and are invested in our culture. We look forward to them returning for their sophomore seasons, healthy and ready to go.”

That's four (Brumfield, Philip, Hein, Deden) out for the year. And Limardo and Dykstra missed games as well. What a devastating year for injuries.
