Re: Entz to USC
I don't know about that, these kids compete for their positions everyday and while these players that have transferred are their friends and brothers they are probably happy for them to have gotten good enough to play at a higher level in most cases. Some are transferring for more playing time. The ones that are still here most likely view it as an opportunity, keep working and they can get that starting spot and possibly have the same chances to play at a higher level.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 6:22 pmI don't think it's extreme to say that the continuity of our roster is being shred. What I'm saying is that the portal losses are unsettling to the team and are losses of leadership, athleticism, and throws the idea of closeknit brotherhood into question. In general it can put the whole team on edge wondering what might happen next... None of that is positive toward continuing to build a team, though I trust they will work through it. With good depth it doesn't have to mean that the quality of the roster is being shred, but it surely isn't helping the quality.catatac wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 4:15 pmThat might be a bit extreme. Given what we return on the OL, I think we'll have a better OL in 24 than what we had in 23 but maybe not quite as deep. No concerns there. Losing Seabass is the one that hurts the most, but fortunately we'll be very deep on the DL once again in 2024. I doubt we find one player in the portal that we can land that will replace Seabass but you never know. Long story short, OL will be as good or better and I think the DL will be as good... and if we take a step back there due to losing Seabass, it will only be a minor step back due to the talented depth along the DL. As for the coaching concerns, 100% agree with you there.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 2:24 pmYeah no one here cares much about Entz and the thread should actually be down in the college athletics.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 2:01 pmnot sure why this thread is 6 pages when no one here gives 2 sh*ts about Entz.
As far as why it is attracting posts: 1. It serves as a nice distraction from the fact that the Bobcats are not playing nowand 2. distraction from the portal action that is shredding the continuity of the great roster we had just weeks ago.
3. Our program could easily be experiencing losing our HC if some other school ends up needing a new HC so it's interesting to see and discuss how that plays out at a comparable school.

Maybe it’s Willie Mack and they were just waiting for our announcement of him not being renewed.

Reading the NDSU forum it sounds like they might be hiring Tim Polasek, who took over for Coach Vigen as NDSU's OC in 2014 and then again in 2021 as Wyoming's OC when Vigen came to MSU.

That’s what it sounds like
But it’s a touchy subject to dance around because Tim & Tyler are best buds
Also we got our stupid old 80 yr old qb coach trying to get his buddy into the position (Arkansas St OC). Idiot

Re: Entz to USC
Sounds like an interesting position to be in before the semifinals, signing day and with the transfer portal open. Sounds like some of NDSU’s recruits have already been poached, and the players clearly favor Roehl. I don’t know much about either coach, but is hiring Polasek worth the risk of a few more recruiting defections and giving players more reason to hit the portal?? I don’t envy NDSU’s position right now.lakesbison wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 10:09 pmThat’s what it sounds like

Gotchya. Well knock on wood, at this point if we don't see any more players enter the portal I'd say we are doing way better than the vast majority of schools out there in terms of losing players.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 6:22 pmI don't think it's extreme to say that the continuity of our roster is being shred. Re: Entz to USC
From the rumors "several" players wanted Roehl as their coach. If so, wondering if that hire will lead to a flocking to the portal?

I doubt it will have any effect.
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."
