I don't think he's a dumbass. The only way he ever interviews for that job is if he knows going in that the interview is a formality.MT Logger wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 6:59 pmCan't argue with thatBelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 6:57 pmI don’t really consider NDSU a rival, but leaving for another FCS program would be more than disrespectful. Anyone who thinks Vigen could be interested in going to NDSU is insulting the intelligence of Vigen and the quality of the Bobcat program. He’s the head coach of the third best team in the Big Sky Conference, an FCS power conference. Why would a coach in this position bolt for another FCS job? Not gonna happen.

On a brighter side, if Vigen leaves, the elephant in the room goes away. Off the field behavior of two gentlemen with likely dui convictions underlies the disappointment that many of us feel about the 2023 season. This has got to be embarassing for the program and MSU administration. For what Cruzado and Costello have done for the program, they desrve better than this. I don't know how else MSU gets this monkey off their back. I'm frankly tired of this dragging on with no end in sight.

Not to mention far less stress and probably time commitment.ThoughtUKnew14 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 4:44 pmMore money. Way nicer place to live. All the connections that come w/ coaching at USC and at that level.Travelingcat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 4:29 pmThat honestly doesn't seem like such a great move for Entz. He must not have confidence in his position. Choate got a co-DC position at Texas off of a 28-22 record here (not suggesting that this was a bad hire or that Choate didn't deserve it-- just that for a guy who is 60-10 with 2 Nattys (and still playing in the national semifinals, you'd think an FBS HC shot(like Bohl got at Wyoming) would be realistic.
No brainer!

I am very disappointed by the anti-Vigen tone in this thread. Elephant in the room? Can him for interviewing? Coach V is a class act and all he's done is win. I hope he stays for a couple of decades.

This is pretty shocking, right on the verge of another Championship Game appearance. At least that’s where I’ve thought they would end up, playing South Dakota State. This really changes things. I cannot believe what the mood of the players must be, unless Entz was becoming the problem behind the gradual fade of the Bison, and was going to be let go anyway.

Coach V is a class act and I love that he is our coach. All he's done is win. But NDSU is his alma mater. If he wants to go there and coach, this Bobcat would support him and wish him well. But I hope he stays for years and years.

I like this whole post — thank you. Players are people, too, and they work hard and I hate to see things way out of their control negatively affect them. So I want to see happy Bison playing their best in their next game. Our bonus daughters live in Fargo and I have lots more reasons to get a temporary Bison booster card than anything remotely resembling dark pink.lakesbison wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 8:59 pmPlayers will rally behind Entz and get him a RING on his way out ala Bohl & Klieman

And that’s nice to hear about Coach Vigen — I think we’ve been pretty fortunate there.

Based on what? He just interviewed for Boise and didn't get it. Clearly he's looking at other opportunities, which is understandable.lakesbison wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 8:59 pmPlayers will rally behind Entz and get him a RING on his way out ala Bohl & Klieman

Re: Entz to USC
I like Vigen, but him retaining his coordinators with 4 DUI's among them was just dumb, imo. I felt he could have let them go before the season, we might have struggled a bit early, but might have been better off later in the season, and wouldn't be dragging this crap into another off-season. I believe we have the guys on staff to successfully move into those roles and it would have sent a strong message to the team that you get rewarded for good performance, not piss-poor.
You want Vigen to stay for a couple of decades? Don't you want to see how his team's perform the next couple of years first?

Re: Entz to USC
I keep reading on here that Vigen interviewed for the Boise job. I haven’t seen any definitive proof of that. Does anyone have information on that being true? There are reporters that said Vigen was being considered for the Boise job along with a bunch of other names. Considered for a job doesn’t mean a whole lot and certainly doesn’t mean a person was interviewed. Considered could just mean his name was on a list. One guy said he saw Vigen in Denver, but that’s a long way from Boise and he could have been there for any number of reasons. Heck, reporters said certain coaches were considered for the MSU vacancy a few years ago that even Leon said he never actually considered and definitely didn’t interview.MT Logger wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 10:11 pmBased on what? Re: Entz to USC
I was following the Boise State forum semi-regularly during their coaching search and they had a "Flight Tracker" thread where they were posting flights by a private jet they thought was being used by their AD to conduct interviews. At one point the plane flew to Bozeman and they speculated that this was to interview Vigen. I don't believe there were ever any confirmed interviewees aside from their interim head coach who eventually was hired.MT Logger wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 10:38 pmYou might be right that it was only a rumor.
