From my point of view Huack is my least favorite Griz coach of all time, (which is something if you knew how well Taylor and myself got along). From my point of view he absolutely HATES the Cats. He grants them no respect as a team or as individual players or coaches. It hangs over him like a cloud and as far as I am concerned and this represents most of the negative aspects of the Cat/Griz rivalry, with none of the positives.
Maybe I am just reading Hauck wrong, and I would prefer that I was. Can any of you folks who know Hauck correct me or change my mind on this. What am I missing about Hauck? Am I the only Cat who feels this way?

I would like to give you an example of the depth of Hauck's hatred of the Cats. This story was told to me first hand by a former assistant track coach at MSU, who was present when this happened.
Shortly after Hauck had been name Griz coach, and before spring practice of his first season, Bobby was drinking with buddies at a house in Missoula watching the NCAA basketbal Final Four games. Apparently, Bobby was pretty drunk when a small group of MSU track athletes and the assistant coach arrived at the house, following a track meet in Missoula. When Bobby saw that one of the MSU athletes wore a Bobcat hat, he grabbed the hat off the kid's head, took it outside and threw it off the deck, screaming that no f_cking Bobcat hats were allowed in the house. He then preceeded to urinate on the hat from the deck above.
While many of us might have done a similar stupid classless move while in college in a drunken stupor, this was a grown man, and recently appointed leader of our football program. He had not even coached a game yet.
This story is well known, and circulated in Missoula for weeks following the incident. Apparently Hogan was not too happy with Hauck about this immature expose.
All of this paranoia which Hauck has shown towards the Cats, like making the team stay in Livington, not ever saying their name publically, etc. is very immature, and counter-productive to getting his players ready for football. I believe it shows on game-day too.
This is one of several reasons why I am not a Bobby Hauck fan. I prefer coaches who demonstrate class, like Read and Glenn. Leave the drama to the cheerleaders.

The first year the Cats beat the Griz Bobby was so angry he said all sorts of bad things in the press about the Cats. I think that the powers that be at the UofM jumped him and told him to "grow up" (or so I was told). There were lots of Griz fans in Missoula that thought he was out of line in what he was saying. Since then, he has been better about showing us respect.

Catmom, I had heard the same thing about Hauck getting heat for his statements following the first loss to the Cats. He has matured some since those days. I have just heard too many stories of his actions and off-the-field comments showing his immaturity for my liking.
College athletes look to their head coach for direction and respect. When the head coach acts like one of them in demonstrating a lack of maturity, it results in the players not respecting their head coach. Hauck should be above all of this Griz/Cat petty stuff, as Kramer is. I guess Bobby thinks that his publiclly-shown disdain for the Cats will impress Griz followers. All we want is for him to beat the Cats, something he has had little success in doing.

Like Bobby, I grew up in Montana and had high school friends that chose to go to college at MSU and some went to UM. I spent some time in Big Timber and lived in Billings, so I understand how many Bobcat fans live around there. My belief is that Bobby grew up with the rivalry and really wants UM to always beat MSU.
But I don't buy into this hatred story. I have met Bobby several times, and have met his sister, brother, mother, father, uncle, aunt, and cousins. I know him, yet would never claim to be able to look into his soul and know what his hatreds are. Those who do, like MslaCat, must have special abilities.
I find it entertaining that some MSU fans claim to be clairvoyant, psychic, mind readers.
Lets play the "what is Bobby thinking right now" game.

Proud, I think you are missing the point here. Nobody really cares if Bobby hates the Bobcats. That is his choice. However, when he is the spokesperson for all of Grizzly football, and his actions towards the Cats show immaturity to the world, then I have a problem with it. Thoughts are personal, actions are public.
I do not have a particular liking for the Bobcats either, although the word "hate" is perhaps a bit overblown while referring to a football rivalry. However, I do not publically demonstrate my feelings for all to see. A little class and a bit of maturity would seem to be requirements for a head football coach, now don't you think?
Pissing on a Bobcat hat in front of dozens of people is not my idea of class nor maturity, no matter how much alcohol was consumed that day.

No Dude, I haven't missed your point. You've missed mine.
Mslacat started a thread about Hauck (Griz obsession noted) and claimed to know Hauck's innermost thoughts and feelings.

I have never once even heard a variation of this story. Also the many people I have asked about this, many of whom are not at all fans of Hauck have never heard about it. Have any of you Bobcats actually heard this story? You guys know that I am pretty respectful of the Cats, but I have a very hard time believing this one.Griz Dude wrote:I would like to give you an example of the depth of Hauck's hatred of the Cats. Griz Dude's source is a former MSU assistant track coach? Now there is something to hang your credibility hat on, huh?

It figures that some Griz fans will defend Hauck and suggest that this hat-peeing incident really did not happen. The assistant track coach who told me of the incident is a very credible guy. Nobody could, or would make up something that outlandish. As I said, the story circulated around Missoula after it happened. Just because you did not hear about it, Anaconda, does not mean that it did not happen. Why don't you just ask Bobby? I am sure he will proudly tell you all about it.
My point is this, would you EVER hear of such an event being tied to Don Read or Joe Glenn? Dennehy, perhaps, but never those two coaches. I do not believe Kramer would ever do something like that either. I prefer classy, mature individuals as head coach of my team. As Forrest Gump said, this is all I am going to say about this.

Oh I got it, Anaconda. Because I do not care for our head coach, and give an example of the kind of futile and classless acts which leads me to feel this way about him, that means I am a Bobcat fan, correct?
I am just as much a Griz fan as you. I am also a Republican, but I do not like what my Republican president is doing, or how is has conducted himself while in office. However, that does not make me a bad Republican, or a traitor to my party.
Get over your riduculous self-imposed requirement that all Griz fans have to like Bobby Hauck in order to be counted as Griz fans. Some of us Griz fans still have a brain.
Maybe the high school principal from Anaconda should piss on the hat of the principal from Butte High. Would that make you feel better about him as a person?
