Just read about the gris vs PSU upcoming game. I knew little Bobby was coaching at PSU but I didn't realize that Coach Barnum had a kid playing for the gris. That ought to make an interesting narrative for the game. Who wants it worse? Will little Bobby be able to assist his team in finding his daddy's team's weaknesses? I mean that's assuming they have any
Anyway, thought that was intriguing and potentially could add a little drama to the game.

You'll have to get the stars out of Barney's eyes for them to win.

From the Big Sky Notebook..."Two Big Sky head coaches will coach against their sons this weekend, when Montana plays at Portland State and UC Davis plays at Idaho State.
Montana head coach Bobby Hauck, the conference’s winningest head coach in history, will line up across the field from Robby Hauck, his son who is in his first year as nickelbacks coach and special teams assistant for Portland State. Robby Hauck, who played at Montana from 2018 to 2022, is the Big Sky’s all-time leading tackler with 482.
Similarly, Portland State coach Bruce Barnum will coach against his son, Cooper, who has played in nine games this year for the Grizzlies. Cooper Barnum played baseball at Washington State in 2021 and 2022.
“He’s gone from player to coach. He’s a professional now. He’s gonna be trying his darnedest to beat us, that’s for sure,” Bobby Hauck said of Robby during his weekly media availability. “And Barny doesn’t want Cooper at home for Christmas talking smack to him either, so these guys, they’re going to want to win.”
Montana (8-1, 5-1) is ranked No. 3 in the FCS Stats Perform Top 25. Portland State is 4-5 and 3-3 in Big Sky games.
In Pocatello, Idaho State coach Cody Hawkins will coach against Dan Hawkins, his father, who is the head coach at UC Davis. Cody Hawkins was the Aggies’ offensive coordinator last season before the Bengals hired him as head coach.
The Aggies (5-4, 3-3) are fifth in the Big Sky standings and face rival Sacramento State (6-3, 3-3) in the final week of the regular season.
Idaho State is 3-6 and 3-3, its most Big Sky wins since 2018."

Yes, Hauck became the official leader last season at 482, surpassing Ioane, who had 471 officially. However, that's only because of the way the Big Sky (and maybe NCAA) keeps official records. If you look at the MSU tackle records, you will see that Kirk Timmer had 518 and Ioane had 491. The NCAA only starting including playoff stats in about 2002. This ended up keeping former UM kicker Chris Snyder from having a record, maybe all time FCS scorer.

Robby Tweeted that this year’s gris team reminds him of the 2008 team. Add to that Barnum’s kid being a gris and his infatuation with Bobby, and I’m not sure PSU will be sad to lose this weekend.

My head is still haunted from the slapping around that Timmer gave me in high school. Not sure if it was Kirk or Troy that applied the smacks. Of course that was in high school as you guessed it I never played college football.

You don't think they'd throw the game just to honor the "legacy"? I can't see any coach doing that intentionally but with the gris love that exists...
