Yep, that probably cost them the game. They should be up 24-23 right now.

Also, why did they burn a timeout when the clock was already stopped. It would have been nice to have one more timeout at the end.

That loss is on Jason Eck. Not kicking the FG on 4th down in the 3rd was a stupid decision.
Also didn't like the offside call on the onside kick. You can't make that call in that situation unless it's so obvious even Helen Keller could see it.

Re: Battle For the Brown Stain
So many teams’ run games seem to play right into the teeth of UM’s defense. Idaho has 76 rushes for 110 yards the last two years vs UM. I’m sure some of that is sack yardage. You knew going into the game idaho was going get shutdown running it.
Tough to win games with no running game, -3 turnovers and the other team hardly makes mistake.
Give UM credit for not doing anything to beat itself. The game reminded me of the 2019 Cat-Griz game through the first 3.5 quarters. Idaho only did well when it went to its four down offense. Hard to give them too much credit for that other than that they were patient/didn’t panic.

I still don’t understand teams that sit in the pocket for 5+ seconds against the gris. You know they are blitzing, it never turns out well for them.

100% on Eck. He was way too aggressive in that game. Not taking the FG, going for it on 4th and 7 in the 3rd quarter, etc.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 12:10 amThat loss is on Jason Eck. Not kicking the FG on 4th down in the 3rd was a stupid decision.
Huge win for um to get their season back on track. My question is, why didn’t the coaches have McDowell starting sooner?? They probably win at NAU with him, and would have a top 3 resume. Instead they have a bad loss to an unranked team to go with their 2 ranked wins.

McDowell might turn out to be good but I think it’s too soon to say. He got 76 of his 176 passing yards on one play. Not a great runner, but not bad. I thought his game vs Davis was better.91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 8:44 am100% on Eck. He was way too aggressive in that game. Ya I'm not saying he's fantastic but the team seems to play better with him than with Vidlak.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 11:01 amMcDowell might turn out to be good but I think it’s too soon to say. Re: Battle For the Brown Stain
Wow griz fans are really being lippy on social media today. I get it, it's a big win. But some of them are acting like they deserved to be ranked in the top 10 all season and they want apologies from anybody who didn't have them there before last night. Gimme a freaking break.
Brint W. is one of the worst of them. Normally a fairly level headed fan but not today.
Honestly, where did they expect to be ranked with 2 close wins at home over Idaho State and a D2 team, and a double digit loss to unranked nau??? Were voters supposed to rank them just cuz they're the griz?? Get over yourselves man. I'm sure you'll be in the top 10 this week so Relax.

Worst fan base in FCS. Top ten in all of college football. After the loss to NAU, everyone wanted to fire Hauck. Brunt talked about how bad they team was. Now Hauck is the best coach in football. Don’t be surprised if they lose 3 of the next 4.91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 3:00 pmWow griz fans are really being lippy on social media today. I get it, it's a big win. Early in season, Should rank week to week based on how a team plays. Too many rank based on past history and with transfers these days teams can have a big swing year to year. A lot should be based on eye test and level of competition. As year goes on it evens out and can be based on overall years performance

Hmmm…how interesting you come here after your team had their first good win of the year. Probably just a coincidence.

Re: Battle For the Brown Stain
My biggest take-away from the Battle of the Stain is that Idaho's O-Line is even worse than predicted. There is no way Vandals can keep up with Bobcats. With a line that porous a good Big Sky team ought to be able to whip Idaho by 20+. Hence the 2 point UM victory makes sense.
