Good to see Caden Dowler in their at 0 dark 30. He must still be lifting in spite of his injury.

Yes, great to hear on Caden! Does anyone have any more specific timelines on Lane, Ty, or Tommy? I'm guessing not but figured I'd check. Looking like we are heading into Weber without any of them... just need to find a way to get the W there and hopefully have most of our players back and healthy heading into the Sac State game.

Somebody had mentioned earlier this week that Ty McCulloch and JT Reed were both back at practice this week, and Sumner was still a few weeks away.

I did some math today, Tommy has either missed or been injured in 7 games (I'm including Saturday) since he became the starter against UT Martin in 2021. There will be 22 games including Saturday against Weber. That means he's either missed or been injured during nearly 32% of the games he could have started in.

He missed Stetson with a hand injury.

Vigen also said that.

Has there been any update on Lane Sumner? I assume is isn't ready this week but I don't recall hearing Vigen mention him lately.

I think I ready on here that Lane is out for a few more weeks.

You should do the same calculation on Chambers. Maybe the injuries have more to do with how we use our quarterback.

I agree that it’s how we use the QB’s. But, it’s not like you can use either of them in a pass first offense and expect to do good. Part of it lies on the QB as well. The coaches have even said they’ve tried to make it to Tommy doesn’t keep the ball as much, but sometimes that’s just how the play turns out based on defensive reads, and sometimes the guy just wants to keep the ball.

I'd guess that around 40% of Tommy's career rushing yards have come from scrambling on a broken pass play. The first Weber State game last year and the SDSU game in 2021 he had some huge gainers on scrambles alone.

That’s like saying he’s starting today.

Seems about right.

As an aside, because I’ve seen other people talk about it, I’m not sold that this is necessarily the offense MSU wants to run. They run it because it’s the one best equipped for the talent they have at QB, but you can see how they call different plays when Reed is in. An offense like he would run makes more sense (more balanced), but wouldn’t work as well with Tommy and Sean. Just my two cents.

Neil Daily tore ligaments in his ankle and had surgery this week. Out 6-8 weeks.

Jace Fitzgerald, Cole Bullock, or Eli Aby would be next man up in that 4th LB spot.

So any updates from the game?

-Ty McCullough…. Did he play? I don’t believe I saw him.

-JT Reed…. Did he play?

-any new injuries? I think we got through that game pretty healthy?

Still wondering what’s up with Marquis? It almost has to be disciplinary at this point. It’s weird he isn’t being used at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also, did Humphrey get banged up? Never saw him after, I believe, the first qtr. I could be wrong on that though.

Hopefully Clevan is okay. Rolled his wrist pretty awkwardly when he landed out of bounds on that long catch that was called back for a hold.

I have no idea. But the camera showed him on the side line immediately after the play laughing with other teammates…. So I’m guessing nothing serious?
