The Official-unofficial Bobcat-Weber game day thread

Post by catsrback76 » Fri Sep 22, 2023 8:02 pm

THE GAUNTLET BEGINS!

The 8 game BSC schedule for the Cats begins today against Weber and is the first of 4 away games that will be played against ranked teams this year! We’ve already played #1 at SDSU and most agree should have beaten them. Today the Wildcats though not ranked #1, are in fact #10 nationally, and have always been a team that MSU has had its fair share of struggle and challenge with. It’s NEVER easy at Weber and today I don’t expect anything on any level to be “easy”!

We’ve gotten the best of Weber the last 3 times we’ve played them, but it’s always been tough, bizarre, and contested! I expect more of the same.

No Tommy today, no Lonyatta this year, no Dowlers today etc. might bode well for a Weber win…but I’m not buying it.

We’ve known since the schedule came out what this year was bringing and I’ve not seen any sign of intimidation or a shrinking back from the challenge. IN fact, I’ve been pleased to see that regardless of who we’re playing we’re bringing it. Though we’re not a finished product on the field…neither is Weber!

I like Sean at QB because not only do we know he’s a threat in the run game when he needs to tuck it, I think he’s a more comfortable passer than Tommy (I get that this is subjective), and throws a more “catchable” ball….IMO. I believe we’ll see that demonstrated today. AND, we know Sean knows where the EZ is!!! =D^ That said, looking for a Tommy return in a few weeks. =D^

I like our RB’s and our TE’s! We have an embarrassing amount of wealth at those positions. Today we’re going to see more diversity out of both groups because we’re going to need it!

I like our Defense. Though still susceptible to edge exploitation at times, on the whole this years D is showing up and showing aggressiveness and the ability to limit teams better than last year. SDSU is the example of D we want to see…minus the 3rd quarter. :)

I’m not sure what wrinkles we’re going to see from Weber today, but I’m certain something’s going to happen to test the Bobcats resilience and tenacity. It always does at Weber. But this years Cats is ready to run the gauntlet of the BSC schedule…starting today with the first of 4 road W’s!!!

Now is the time…go get it Bobcats!!! =D^ =D^ =D^

I’m in Atyrau Kazakhstan and it’s currently 7:07 am GAMEDAY!!! Next week I will be flying into Montana so no game day thread from me as I will likely be a zombie and comatose. I’m 11 timezones in front of you…and it’s looking like a great day for a WIN! :)

Not that I think we’ll need it next week but I hate to break tradition/mess with Karma especially when you are gonna be seeing the Cats in person for the first time in forever. May need to figure out a way to have you post this early before your trip and I can “hide” it until it’s gameday!

Okay so I can do that kmax but as I’m looking at my schedule coming into the States, I should be functional for a posting in the correct time zone! No worries. I’m possibly going to try and be there at the PSU game as well on the 14th. But for sure on the 14th of October. Gonna be fun!

No, I've just always thought it's ridiculous that he starts the gameday thread so early. I don't really care where he is in the world, it's not gameday until it's the day of the game where the game is being played. Tradition is tradition though I guess.

Last night I also got gameday and gametime confused (long week) and wondered why it was so early until I later remembered what he was doing.

Let's just chalk it up to pregame crankiness.

Love the tradition '76 and look forward to reading your post first thing on gameday morning.

No kidding! The early game day thread is one of the all-time best BN traditions. I love that it gets started with a fun write-up from an MSU grad halfway around the world. One of the things that make this place special. ‘76 is an international treasure that needs to be protected at all costs!

Oh no, did my criticism bother the guy that starts the gameday thread nearly before the team even arrives in the town the game will be played? Yes, I'm the crazy one.

Happy gameday everyone! Looking forward to conference play!
