His main job is to convince Logie to offer Fisher Brown a scholarship.
Good to see Robinson get a shot.

I like this. I think he might do just fine. Running speed might be a shortcoming, but in the high school video that I watched he was simply thinking and reacting faster than any of the other players. Opportunistic. I’m intrigued. At 6’4” he has better size than many walk-ons.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 8:32 pmHis main job is to convince Logie to offer Fisher Brown a scholarship.

I really think he has a shot!! Watched closely for several years now. Very high basketball iq, more athletic than you would think. His two strongest attributes in my opinion is rebounding and his mid range jump shot. He has great hand size and just has a knack to get to missed shots. If he can adjust to the length he will see at that level , he will be good!

Re: Royce Robinson is a Bobcat!!
I agree he has a good shot. I don't think talent is what held him back from earlier D1 consideration. He can jump out of the gym, has a very strong midrange game, and can play very physical. His downside is: he has tunnel vision when running the floor, he won't be able to go coast to coast at this level and ignore open shooters; his shooting percentage wasn't as good as it should have been, he takes a lot of shots to make shots and the fancy stuff won't be as easy to do in the Big Sky; I would say he is closer to 6'3 than he is to 6'4; his ball handling skills will have to get better to see playing time. He is a very talented "tweener". He was very disappointed when he got no D1 looks earlier, now he gets a chance to see what he can do, make the most of it young man!

Re: Royce Robinson is a Bobcat!!
Very solid comments about Royce above. Especially about bb IQ. Great anticipation on defense and rebounding. His running speed is pretty decent; he blows by a lot of players with the ball because his reaction time/creation is ahead .... flashes to an open area quite often. His timing and leaping ability is explosive, which is good for rebounding and rising above players to get his shot off. His midrange shooting is sweet, esp. in the key. He reminds me of Dane Warp (Havre; Carroll College All American...right?) for shooting in that respect. He could work on shot selection some, bump up the FT % from 70%, is an excellent passer. Man, ya gotta take a chance on the Montana kids! I'm excited to see what Logie can do to develop him.
Other notes: At the MT-WY game in Lockwood this past weekend, MT had the ball under 10 seconds at the end of the quarter twice. Keller isolated Royce each time, with the ball out high and spread the floor. He didn't convert the first try, but the second time he penetrated the middle through the collapsing defense and scored a layup with great body control. He had a some sweet feeds to teammates for scores in that game. Amunrud of Manhattan Christian looked really good too. Seth also has plays like he has an advantage on both ends of the court, can drive or shoot anywhere, thinks ahead of other players, good bb IQ. He had 9 steals in Friday night's game... according to Rocky Erickson on the radio.
Royce played AAU ball last summer (I think with Love of Skyview, Dick of Hellgate, and a couple of Idaho kids last summer) that went 7-0 (3 were won in OT) and won 2 tournaments in LA and Las Vegas. His grandfather told me Royce was a go-to guy on the team. He had 30 points at halftime of one game. He also was MVP of the HIT in 2022.
Royce never played football until his coach asked him to come out to practice as a HS junior at the end of the season to see if he liked it, even though he wouldn't be eligible to play in a game. He loved it and came out his senior year and helped Fergus to undefeated championship, made 1st team all-state as a wide receiver and the E-W Shrine team (I'm not sure if he is playing Saturday, or not, b/c of the bb all-star game and MSU opportunity...although 4 of his FHS teammates are playing). His Grandfather was part of the MSU Rodeo team (roping) in the late 1960's.
A comment about Egan from what I saw Saturday night. She is quick. However WY guards were also very quick and blew by her a few times when she was on D. They also harassed her when she had the ball. I felt she had trouble controlling the ball under pressure. And because she was so busy with that she didn't always see the rest of the floor. Maybe that can overcome with coaching and experience. She did shoot some beautiful 3 pointers and had a few breakaway layups. She is very slight in stature and she will have to find a way to overcome that at D1. Maybe 3 pt. shooting will be her strength.
