They definitely need someone who can protect the rim.

He was good enough to be invited to the NBA Draft Combine and a likely 2nd round draft pick before withdrawing his name, so something tells me he'll have significant interest from much higher levels than the Big Sky. He is exactly the type of player MSU needs though!homeytennis wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 9:32 amNorth Dakota State has a 6'11" guy in the portal 19 ppg 10 rpg last season.

Re: 2023 - MBB Possible Incoming Transfer List
CONCERN: Majority of these additions from my readings are former Seattle area (or) prospects Pt. Loma had interest in, once these players realized D1 was not in the cards. The recent players are leaving in major numbers at Rice, as Coach Scott Para is in his last year of his contract. Plus they are moving up in conference status because of football and power in baseball.
NO rim protectors and this looking like .500 program and will take 2-3 years, to determine was this right pick.... Sprinkle is DOG recruiting and this current staff, D2 proven and TBD at the D1 level.

Re: 2023 - MBB Possible Incoming Transfer List
It's no surprise that Logie has built the roster how he has this off-season, given that he was the 5th "link" in a chain of coaching changes (MSU -> Utah State -> VCU -> Penn State -> Notre Dame) and therefore had a comparatively late start in recruiting with a bunch of roster slots to fill after all the outgoing transfers when Sprinkle left. Personally I won't be upset at all with a .500 season in Year 1, that's right about what Sprinkle did in his first season with a player (Frey) who's better than anyone on the current MSU roster. I'll be more interested in his first recruiting class after he's had a full season to recruit instead of a month and a half.DawsonPirate wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 8:21 amCONCERN: Majority of these additions from my readings are former Seattle area (or) prospects Pt. Point Loma kicked the snot out of Pepperdine this past season. Northwest Nazarene (not a D2 power) has wins over Idaho and Portland State in the last couple of seasons. On paper it looks bad, but D2 players can probably compete at the Big Sky level.

NO rim (key) protectors says it all. I’ll be concerned when we face a team with players in the style of Belo and Osobor without Belo and Osobor. I do look forward to seeing more of the building blocks of motion, passing, and shooting as that’s what really makes basketball a special game.DawsonPirate wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 8:21 amCONCERN: Majority of these additions from my readings are former Seattle area (or) prospects Pt. Dawson Pirate is a troll. He has posted negative stuff for years. Don’t fall for his narrative.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Mon Jun 05, 2023 5:20 pmNO rim (key) protectors says it all. While having a premier big guy would be nice, it is not a prerequisite to being successful. Look at Miami getting to the final four. Their leading rebounder and shot blocker was 6’7”.

If you want a good laugh, search DawsonPirate's old posts and find his thread from the Spring of 2021 saying MSU needed to consider letting Sprinkle go after his second season. The main complaints were that Xavier Bishop wasn't any good and that MSU had too many international players and not enough from the western US. Of course, now it's a CONCERN that Logie is building his roster largely with WA/OR/CA guys.

Has he EVER posted anything positive about the Cats? He appears to have had a bad past experience and is carrying some type of grudge.

Did the UW kid sign somewhere yet? Maybe the NDSU kid.

Jackson Grant followed Sprinkle to Utah State. I saw on Twitter yesterday that the NDSU kid is considering Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, and Iowa. Something tells me MSU is not in the picture there...

Incoming bigs - two, to be exact. Once this is announced, we should have our full 13 scholarships allotted for 2023-24. Go, Cats Go!!! Coaching staff should be pleased with their rapid roster construction in these past 6-8 weeks.

Thanks for the insight. As I've noted a few times, this new staff really impresses me and I personally look forward to their style of basketball! I think there's a real chance they wear out the scoreboard a couple times a year!

Re: 2023 - MBB Possible Incoming Transfer List
I remember a guy named DeJuan Blair dominating the Big East as Pitt's center, he was 6'5" in socks and had no ACLs. The Bulls won a threepeat playing 6'7" 210# Dennis Rodman at center half the time. But they were still players who could guard dominant post players and defend the rim against drives.
It's much more common for the guys who are effective in that role to be somewhere in the 6'8"-6'10" range in college basketball. They do need someone who can be effective in that role. And Logie apparently agreed, since he went out and got two guys.
