Should fit in just fine here. Good between the tackles and has decent outside speed.
Strong legs.
His high school tape is impressive.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Re: Julius Davis
I think this is a good get. We know we need multiple healthy guys, especially if we plan to be playing well into December again. Depth depth depth.

Re: Julius Davis
Looks like he missed most of his senior year in high school to a sports hernia, he redshirted his freshman year at Wisconsin still recovering from that. Then it looks like a torn meniscus in Spring of 2021 and a hamstring issue this spring.Helenabobcat wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 9:30 pmWow, he looks amazing. I wonder what his injury was. Hopefully it's not lingering.

Davis suffered a sports hernia during his senior season at Menomonee Falls. He played in just three games, but ran for 607 yards and seven touchdowns on 60 carries (10.1 ypc) before shutting it down and opting for surgery. Davis then spent pretty much his entire freshman season at UW rehabbing.
"That was probably like my real first injury," he said. "After that, it just kind of was like one thing after another."
Davis didn't take his first collegiate carry until the regular-season finale against Minnesota last November. It went for just 1-yard, but for Davis, getting a feel for Big Ten football took a lot off his plate.
"I was pretty confident. It was nerve-wracking, but they prepare us for that moment in practice," he said. "Now that I know what it feels like, game speed, I can slow down everything else and focus on the little details of plays and everything else."
This past spring was especially important for Davis. The Badgers returned just one experienced tailback back in redshirt freshman Jalen Berger, although they've since added Clemson transfer Chez Mellusi.
However, an injury struck down Davis again as he slightly tore his meniscus and missed most of the spring. With Berger and junior Isaac Guerendo also banged up, UW was rolling with walk-on Brady Schipper as their No. 1 tailback.
"Sophomore year, you know, I felt good. And then boom, the meniscus happened," Davis said. "It was just some kind of fluke thing that happened.
"But right now I feel great. Got my weight up. I feel amazing. Feel back to normal. Just got to make sure I stay on top of all my plays."
Throughout the first two weeks of fall camp, UW has gone with Berger, Mellusi, and true freshman Braelon Allen for most of the reps in the first and second-team offense. Up to 201 pounds, Davis has added 12 pounds since last season and says he feels more durable this fall.
If Davis can avoid the injury bug, there's a chance he could shake up the tailback rotation in 2021.
"He brings a tremendous skill set of a back that can make people miss," running backs coach Gary Brown said. "Good speed, can catch the ball out of the backfield. He can do a lot of good things for us.
"He's just gotta stay healthy."

Re: Julius Davis
It is, especially considering the number of injuries last year. I think everyone except Elliott missed games, including the two quasi-running back QBs.

Talking to a few “in the know” people…. It sounds like we might have got a stud with this guy. I would not be surprised to see him put up a 1st team big sky type season this fall.
Excited to see what he can do!

Re: Julius Davis
I think he’ll do great, but I’m not going to get excited until fall camp closes and he comes through all the stress and strain uninjured. Seems like we weed out 2-3 top-line backs that way. I sincerely wish him all the luck in the world — truly — but this transfer is reminiscent of the cautionary tale of Big Bacon. Good fortune, Julius.

Re: Julius Davis
Zeke earned RB1 last year and I am biased because he's a Portland Bobcat with a fun family but Julius seems to have skills if he can stay healthy.
Go get it and let's get to Frisco again.

I feel the same way about Zeke, all bias though. I do think Zeke will have a huge year, kid has been busting his butt. However, if Julius is healthy and firing on all cylinders, he may be pretty hard to take down, he’s a bruiser and big kid.PapaG wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 2:35 pmZeke earned RB1 last year and I am biased because he's a Portland Bobcat with a fun family but Julius seems to have skills if he can stay healthy.
