What a strange purchase. Are the essentially just buying the intellectual property, as in UoP's experience with online ed? It would be kind of surprising if UoP has a large donor base to syphon from.

They have just found a very creative way to recruit Arizona, and specifically the Phoenix metro area.

For their online football team? :)

Precisely! 😂 The University of Phoenix advertises so much that sticking a UI logo on in a metro area of over 4 million will buy them some name recognition.

Two articles on the sale that make this deal sound risky. This seems to have some serious downside. I am not sure a state entity should be speculating on such an investment. A failure would be catastrophic to the institution.

Strange.....Sounds like they are doing this as a hedge against the state legislature wanting to move away from public education? Also, I think phoenix has a pretty terrible reputation as being predatory in nature.

What's next? UM going to acquire ITT Tech?

If this wasn't governmental accounting, I suspect we would be looking at a big write off in a few years. By doing something like this I think they lose their superior attitude over Boise academics.
